mmmm Sooo good. Love this place. and I love their late night hours. Very nice place. Cookies are amazing and the ice cream is great. Want some late night munchies? Head to cream!

Hey if you love generic ice cream and cookies come here. Long lines to wait in and then you get stuff that tastes like safeway select ice cream and cookies. The plus is that they have gluten free cookies, but there is most likely ALOT of cross contamination so be careful those of you who have a really severe allergy. Also the guy who was scooping kept wiping his nose with his arm. EWWWW. Thankfully he was scooping my ice cream otherwise I would have said no thank you I don't want anything.

Omg just stopped by and walked by. Being pregnant ice cream has been a priority. Good choices for cookies. I ordered snickerdoodle cookies with salted caramel ice cream and chocolate sprinkles and WOW awesome. If I lived in cali I would frequent more often.

So simple! Custom ice cream sandwiches! So many different combinations! It is just everything you ever wanted in an ice cream sandwich and you can't beat the price!

Slow moving lines, like ridiculous slow. Palo Alto location moves people. The guy who made our sandwiches was wiping everything with a dirty towel and touching our food likewise after using the towel. He even set my girlfriend's cookies on the oven rack and not on a pan, wtf? This place is dirty and the staff is horrible. Never wanna come to this location again. Palo Alto all the way.

I love this place! Their ice cream sandwiches are soooo good. The cookies are freshly made there which is awesome. The ice cream is great. I'm pretty simple I like the oatmeal cookie with the vanilla ice cream! The staff was really excited about being there they were really sweet and helpful with cookie combinations. Overall I was extremely satisfied with my experience! I will be back probably every week if I could!!!

Yum, Yum and Yummier !!!! This place has the "it factor" keep it coming :)

  • Juan I.

Cheap. Tasty. Great portion size. It's a hit! Only down fall, the ice cream will melt if you don't eat it fast enough.

Why do I like this place? $1.50 for a half sandwich!! Awesome price. Perfect amount. If you eat the whole thing you have gluttoner's remorse in a serious way. Half is the way to go for kids too. Where else can you get ice cream, cookie, and topping for that amount? My fav is double chocolate chip, coffee ice cream, almonds. Yum! Not slow at 7pm week night. Friendly staff too. Too bad very little seating and no party room :(.

Checked this place out last night after dinner. It was ok, I had an ice cream cookie sandwich (M&M cookies with peanut butter ice cream). It was fresh and tasty, the price was alright as well. My complaint is with the staff. Service with a smile goes a long way. I little "what can I get for you" and "thank you" go a long way. I experienced a chick raising her hand and snapping her fingers, "NEXT, what are you getting?", makes the sandwich and says "is that it". No smile, no thank you, no nothing! I'll be back in hopes that management weeds out the bad apples.

Its ok....the cookies are good ....but nothing special people lined up because its a new place...

  • Jasmine V.

Luckily my very first time trying this place out, there was NO line at all! Yay for that. There are lots of options to choose from on the menu. 3 steps: choose your cookie, ice cream flavor, and toppings. (Optional.) I ended up with the Macadamia cookie and Salted Caramel ice cream. It was real good but honestly I thought the cookies would have came out warm from the oven...it was real hard to bite into. lol...nevertheless, it's alright but the ice cream was bomb. I wish they had tables and seats at Cream but unfortunately they don't. I didn't realize how small the location was. Will I be coming here again? Not for awhile. But it is worth trying at least once! :)

Tried to make our first ever visit at 11:45pm on Thursday evening - even though the hours listed on the website are until 12 midnight everything was put away, so no C.R.E.A.M. for us. For some reason I'm really irritated by businesses that aren't available to serve people during their stated hours. We went to Tea River a couple of doors away instead.

  • Alexander L.

Pros: -Awesome Cookies fresh from the oven -Million flavors of ice cream to choose from -Million different types of cookies to sandwich -Welcoming store entrance, pretty organized to go in and out using different doors -Fountain Soda Machine -Really big so not cramped Cons: -Long line but worth the wait -The Ice Cream melts really fast -The store is kind of boring, everything is open

    (4)
  • A L.

CREAM - reasonably priced - only $2.99 for an ice cream sandwich made of your choice of warm cookies and your choice of ice cream. If you pay by cash, it's only $2.50. Mmmm....

  • Roxy C.

Can't get any better than this location! I know this place is fairly new, but I must compliment how clean it is inside and how awesome the customer service is here. Very friendly!! They are very generous here as well and serve big cookie sandwiches!

  • Thy N.

This one isn't as good as the one in Berkeley. Don't ask me why... cuz I have no idear.

    (3)
  • Charley V.

CREAM is always good, but this one was extra good because the staff was very nice and friendly. They had an amazing choice in music too, some of the best classic HipHop tracks. For sure one of my favorite CREAM's in NorCal.

    (5)
  • Peace L.

If Cookies Rule Everything Around Them...they're in deep shit! The cookie was the worst part of the sandwich, hard, brittle, cold. The ice cream left a lot to be desired too. No bueno CREAM

    (2)
  • Jo J.

Love love love ice cream and cookies so what else can I say!.....don't pass this place up as your walking around the downtown San Mateo area, stop in and be creative :)

    (5)
  • arlene d.

So I've been coming back here and they're getting better with the consistency of the cookies. I do love those snicker doodle ones they're really good the ice cream is decent but does the job and tastes good together with the fresh warm cookies. I do try switching it up by getting different flavor ice creams. I'll be back again.

  • Kymberly H.

My first time at Cream was wonderful, the staff was very helpful in answering my questions as I am Gluten Free and Dairy Free. If you have serious Gluten Free or Celiacs issues do not have the cookies as the staff can not avoid cross contamination however, the ice cream is wonderful. They currently have soy ice cream (for those of us with Dairy Sensativities), but I have faith that in the near future they may have almond or coconut based ice creams (Right Cream). Let's keep our fingers crossed.

  • Joseph David T.

Someone told me recently about this homage to American excess and consumerism. Other than the fact that CREAM serves up diabetes over the counter for under 5 bucks ... this place is BOMB! Warm cookies ... Cold ice cream ... Now you are speaking my language ... I like to hit this spot after a week of training for a 10k race and load up on the empty calories ... All joking aside it's totally worth checking out ... But be ready to stand in line because these puppies sell like hot cakes ... I tried the strawberry ice cream with double chocolate cookies ... It set me back a week on my Palio diet but hey we all gotta live on the edge once in a while ... Bravo CREAM Bravo ...

  • Danny F.

Cream is ok but great customer serice. Cookies are comeplty fresh & big portion sizes too bad they don't check if there rock hard.

    (1)
  • Anna T.

This place gets 3 stars for the customer service and efficiency. As for the product, I have no idea what the hype is all about. Their cookies are really good but their ice cream is bland. It would be better if they partnered with 3 twins ice cream :)

  • Jen P.

Yum. YUM! I came here because I saw they have vegan ice cream cookie sandwiches. I ordered vanilla soy ice cream on a snickerdoodle cookie and IT. WAS. GREAT.! Totally hit the spot for a vegan dessert craving and worth the $5 that it cost. They warmed the cookie too! If they offered more variety on the vegan menu I would give them 5 stars. They had 3 cookie options (snikerdoodle, tuxedo, and banana walnut chocolate chip) and 2 soy ice creams (vanilla and mint chocolate chip) - personally, I'd say mint chocolate chip doesn't sound appealing sandwiched between two cookies.. so my only real option was vanilla. Even though it was delicious (and I will return to try vanilla with the other cookie options) - there was some serious ice cream envy going on when I saw the dozens of other flavors non-vegan's had to choose from! They will supply when there is more demand I suppose! All in all, loved it. I wish more places offered non-dairy ice cream/dessert options!

    (4)
  • Travis C.

Love this place and will be coming back often. Like Tysson D mentioned, I'm taking on the Taco on my next trip

    (5)
  • Spencer S.

The cookies are fresh and the ice cream is great. The line was long but pretty quick as they had a lot of staff. Service was good and friendly.

    (5)
  • Vince L.

I like this place. Customized ice cream sandwiches seems like something that should have been around a long time ago. If you don't care about woofing down a 1000 calorie ice cream sandwich, then this is the place :P! Cookies are great! I love the snicker doodles and double chocolate chip. The only complaint I have is the ice cream. It's pretty mediocre to be honest. I've had better ice cream at the grocery store. If they ever improve their ice cream quality, they might really take off.

    (4)
  • Marko G.

    Legit ice cream.

    (4)
  • E W.

Cookies and ice cream are nothing new, but this place offers a variety of flavors for you to customize your ice cream sandwich. I tried the double chocolate cookie and cappuccino cookie with coffee ice cream -- make sure you ask them to heat up the cookies -- it will taste A LOT better. There's a small incentive to pay cash for the ice cream sandwich -- it's $2.50 instead of $2.99 -- a cheap snack/dessert ;)

    (4)
  • Jennine M.

Awesome ice cream! There's pretty much a constant line outside this place, but it moves pretty quickly, so don't be scared away by it. The ice cream sandwiches are out of this world! You can choose between 10 or so cookies and there are even more ice cream choices. I had the white chocolate macadamia cookies with peanut butter twist ice cream inside. All I can say is that I'm glad they don't have any CREAMs in my area because it would be hard to resist! Prices are really reasonable too!

    (5)
  • Amanda K.

i've been to the original Berkeley location but i like this one more. call me snooty but i like the newer, cleaner, and more spacious san mateo location! there is room for a line to form and space to sit. there was also a pop up seating area outside when i went. very cool! cheap yummy cookies with cheap yummy ice cream sandwich. for under $3. compared to everything else in the bay area, its great to have a sweet snack without burning the wallet. the employee ended up grabbing a wrong cookie so that wasn't good. butter cookie instead of what was asked for. not good. coconut ice cream is a great pair with the cookies. salted caramel is yummy as well but the sweetness can feel like too much with the cookies. i feel the coconut helps balance out the sugar from the cookie

I am pleased to say that my second visit to San Mateo's CREAM was more than delightful. I was greeted upon arriving to the counter by an associate who was extremely friendly, and that made me happy. He asked me how I was doing and I could tell that he genuinely cared. I like that. I was able to speak with a manager about my previous visit and he was also very friendly and kind. He took the time to talk to me and i really do appreciate that. I would like to thank the manager and the workers of CREAM for a wonderful visit. I can't wait to come back for more cookies and ice cream!

  • Gigi S.

It was fun to find this place. My daughter has driven to the one in Berkeley a few times. I chose the snicker doodle cookie and salted caramel ice cream. It was good, but I would like to try something else next time. My daughter had macadamia nut cookie and soy ice cream. She was thrilled because she is allergic to milk. She told a co-worker about the dairy free selections and they went the next day. We will be back. I just love this concept! Staff were so very friendly! They made you feel welcome!!!!!

  • Steven E.

Was across the street at Bambū when I noticed the crazy line at this place. I immediately yelped it and noticed the great reviews. Came back with the family the next day to sample for ourselves. Believe the hype! I had the snickerdoodle cookies with green tea ice cream sandwich. Paid cash so saved 50 cents. Love that they stay open late for those midnight sweet tooth occurrences. Only turn off is the lines. We actually waltzed right in with no wait. I'd recommend going later in the evening to avoid the rush.

  • MTBer I.

Cookies were so-so and the ice cream was pretty much Dreyer's. I think this place is popular because it's reasonably priced like Diddy Riese near UCLA. Not quite as cheap though. The cookie sandwich can be topped and drenched however you like it. As for the line, it's somewhat long but moves quick. I guess it's another place to hit after walking off dinner on 3rd st.

    (3)
  • Nancy G.

I love it. I love the warm fresh cookies and their different flavors of ice cream. Parking can sometimes be a hassle depending when you go. The soft warm cookies are too delicious to not have. The lines can get quite long sometimes too depending the time of day it is. After my first time at the Berkeley location, I have been a repeated customer!

    (5)
  • Ashley M.

The line tells me that this place is definitely no secret but it was well worth the wait ... even in the rain. I got a turtle cookie with salted caramel ice cream and my husband got a peanut butter cookie with cookie dough ice cream. It was only $7!!! This is a great deal. Both cookie sandwiches were simply amazing. I'll definitely be back.

  • Lizzie D.

CRACK...they have to put crack in the ice cream because I think I am fully addicted. I am too scared to try the ice cream taco, (one day I will have the balls) but I usually stick to either the famous cookie sandwich or a milk shake. I try to mix it up a little bit. Here is the thing...you see the line that comes out of the store and starts to go down the block and you get a little discouraged because you think to yourself, "I dont want to stand in a line all night just to get some damn ice cream" Then you find yourself at the end of the line and you are very quickly at the front of the line and a ice cream scooper person is asking you what you would like. "Hold on! Wait! I am already at the front of the line?!? I dont even know what cookies I want to use this time." They are very quick and they dont skimp on any ice cream goodness. For just $2.50 you can get 2 warmed cookies (keep in mind you can get 2 different cookies...i know...i just blew your mind) and a huge scoop of ice cream in the middle. Holy s*#%!! Who ever decided to open this store with this concept is genius and it almost makes me mad I didnt think of it.

A W S O M E place man fresh cookies even a ice cream taco lol :0 gets busy so prepare to wait in ine worth it tho

  • Chloe H.

So good! When I arrived with my driving instructor from my driving test (I passed it :)), there was no line and we were greeted by a very energetic employee. He was very helpful, as it was essentially our first time trying CREAM. (I tried it 2 years ago, but forgot the process of making a ice cream sandwich). Delicious! You might want to eat it quickly before it melts though.... :)

  • Allie B.

Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm! Four "Mmms" This place is amazing. By far one of the best ice cream cookie sandwiches I have had. I have tried this place once in Palo Alto but it did not satisfy my taste buds. The one here in San Mateo was delicious. I will definitely come back for another treat here. The first cookie I tried was the chocolate chip with the "cup of joe" flavor. It was a like a bomb in my mouth. It was so amazing I couldnt stop and of course I was on a sugar high for the rest of the night. Overall the wait was a little long but definitely worth it. The price is inexpensive ($2) for a fat piece of ice cream cookie sandwich. They accept cards but its $.50 to your cookie which is not bad! Bring cash! :)

    (5)
  • Bev B.

So I'm not a big fan of cookies --- but love ice cream. So I thought is wait in the long line to give it a try....I ordered the peanut butter swirl and the coconut.... Peanut butter? What peanut butter? It was was basically vanilla ice cream with some chocolate chunks in it.... The "coconut" was another form of vanilla with some coconut flakes in it...... So as far as vanilla ice cream goes it was fine. (I think the trick to surviving "Cream" with a pleasant experience is to have the cookie and toppings.....it distracts from the boring vanilla ice cream flavors posing as other flavors.......sigh

  • Gabriel B.

Luv it! Cookies and ice cream is tough to critique

    (4)
  • Melanie T.

CREAM is a must!!! What's better than ice cream sandwiched between to warm, fresh baked cookies??!!! I love the fact that I can order half a sandwich for when I when a little goodness! I want to try the ice cream taco... That will be in my next visit!!

    (5)
  • Morgan D.

I loved this place! We stumbled upon this place two weeks ago after dinner, but the line was out the door so we decided to go another time. We went here on Friday about 6pm, and still had to wait outside in the line, but it was worth it! I ordered the snickerdoodle cookie with cinnamon ice cream. It.was.divine. Bring one to Dallas, TX!!

    (5)
  • Adrian H.

Definitely a good choice to go for desserts. The cookies are great, the ice-cream, good too, the combination is definitely top notch. Usually a long line after 8 pm but if you go in the afternoon, no waiting.

    (4)
  • Lea M.

Great ice cream and cookies! My favorite ice cream sandwich combo is cookies n cream with butter sugar and double chocolate cookies. There's always a line here but it moves pretty quickly. Wait is typically 5-10 minutes in my experience.

    (5)
  • K S.

Warm cookies and cold ice cream.... how can that ever go wrong?? Really yummy, must go. Beware of long lines though.

    (5)
  • Justine N.

I don't think I've ever walked past CREAM and not gone inside to at least have a half sandwich. I have never received bad service and the people working behind the counter have always been friendly towards me.

  • Christina L.

First time going to one of their stores and maybe I just didn't choose the right thing to try, but I found it not to my taste. One of my friends and I got soy mint chocolate chip ice cream since it sounded interesting. I mean seriously, not many places I go to have soy ice cream. Anyway, it was alright, but tasted off; maybe I'm biased since I'm used to standard ice creams and sorbets. Another friend tried a chocolate chip cookie (which he liked) and a regular brownie (which he found nasty). So, I'm not really sure what to make of their sweets. I guess it is a good place to check out and the service is friendly (and fairly quick); I might go back and try something else one day. Update... Although it was very kind/professional of them to publicly message me regarding my review (see below, or however you see messages attached to a review from the business), I just wanted to put it out there that I never did get that follow-up private message from them.

    (3)
  • M D.

Seriously? What is the draw here? Pretty average ice cream and VERY good cookies. But, I don't see why people are standing on line for 30 minutes.

    (2)
  • Travis E.

Looking for a cheap dessert to eat while you walk around downtown san mateo, this is the spot. 3.00 for an ice cream sandwich. Over 15 flavors of ice cream and over 20 varieties of cookies to choose from. They pull the cookies straight out the oven and put the ice cream in the middle which softens up due to the heat of the cookies which makes it so easy to eat and soooo deelish!! My favorite place for a cheap dessert!

    (5)
  • Karen C.

First off, I must say that I am not a sweets kinda gal...more of the savory type, but, with this being said, I was enamored by this place while they were building it. My Dr. said to me as we walked by "OH! This is going to be CREAM?!" and the worker said YES! He told me that I MUST try one and I will LOVE IT! LOL... So fast forward to today, as I was looking for something to satisfy my curiousity/craving for something sweet....(unusual for me!) There was no line - MIRACULOUS!- so, I had a few minutes to read the menu (not like anything you order would be horrible!) and I ended up with a snickerdoodle/peanut butter cookie icecream sandwich with salted carmel icecream. It was so DECADENT and DELICIOUS that I didn't even have a second to take a picture of it because I ate it super fast! The guy behind the counter was super cute and nice and let me say I will return....dammit for this place being so close to my work! And I might just have a sweet tooth after all!

    (5)
  • Holly D.

Yum! Had date night with 2 of the kids who wanted CREAM. Good choice. They have a decent selection of flavors for both ice cream and cookies. I got salted caramel ice cream with cc cookies. Cookies are warm and fresh making this combo totally awesome! Line was long but moved fairly quick. They also have a Taco Tuesday special...ice cream taco sandwiches...yeeeeess!

    (4)
  • Dson F.

Been here a couple of times and finally taking the time to write a review. Let me preface this by saying I love dessert and although I love cookies and ice cream, I have definitely had better. The cookies are ok nothing really special and the icre cream is just ehh. This place and the location in Berkeley always seems to have a long line after dinner which usually moves pretty quickly. Two cookies and ice cream will set you back under $3 with a credit card and $2.50 if you pay cash. I still prefer Diddy Riese in Westwood which I can remember was $1 which was a steal. They have gone up to $1.75 which still a bargain this day in age. If you have a sweet tooth this might be the place for your but there are too many good dessert places in San Mateo to try.

    (3)
  • Cathie U.

staff: friendly food: their cookies are sweet. i love sweets and even this is a bit much. my bf calls it the "diabetes factory." I've learned to get a scoop of ice cream with one cookie instead of the ice cream sandwich --- i love you, but i can't do it anymore. pricing: awesome! next to rite-aid ice cream pricing, not too many places offer affordable AFFORDABLE ice cream. I think it was 1.99 for a scoop of ice cream. We walked out spending around $11 for a group of 5. WINNER parking: meter parking. blehhh the parking costs more than the ice cream...(jk)

    (4)
  • Gary H.

Fresh homemade cookies you can't go wrong with that and when you order the cookies are warm and then ice cream in between them.

    (4)
  • Vicky L.

Let's be honest. I came here because of the hype. After seeing so many posts on Instagram, I decided that I had to try it. After going to Sharetea with friends, we came here and there was a line, but it moved quick. I got chocolate chip cookies with green tea ice cream and my friend got snickerdoodle with cookies and cream ice cream. My friend asked for a cup to hold her CREAM in and got charged an extra 50 cents and that happens if you pay with debit/credit too. When we got our CREAM, we sat down and took a spoon and had to scoop some ice cream out before biting into it. When I bit into mine, I felt like I was biting into a rock; it wasn't soft at all. Maybe I came at the wrong time and the cookies weren't fresh. All in all, I feel like it's nothing special. Might as well just get some chocolate chip cookies and ice cream from the store and make it yourself. It'll taste the same.

    (3)
  • Lena N.

Salted caramel ice cream here was perfection as somehow pistachio was taken off the menu? My cookie however was very hard which ruined the sandwich in general. Quick and easy snack for a good price though!

    (3)
  • Harry V.

Employees are great!!! This product blows. I would think Americans would have enough taste to understand sugar plus sugar plus sugar shouldn't overshadow the actual taste of ice cream.

    (1)
  • Marie R.

Not a big fan, ice cream server is not friendly, and not clean, they dropped a scoop of ice cream in the counter and pick it up with their hands without wearing anything and then put it back to the container... Nasty.... ice cream is not really that great....

    (2)
  • Jessica O.

OBSESSED! It's so cheap and SO SO SO GOOD! Ice cream cookie sandwich DREAMS!

    (5)
  • Hazel D.

Online ordering doesn't work. Wasted my time getting a parking just to be disappointed.

  • Alicia D.

We were in town visiting San Francisco and at a hotel nearby. I wanted dessert and looked at what was around and Cream caught my eye. The ice cream sandwiches are what drew me in so we drove down which was about 3 miles away. We got waited on quickly and I decided on sugar cookie with strawberry ice cream. It was good, cookies got hard quick but the ice cream was yummy- cool spot.

    (4)
  • Suavecito m.

I like the cookies separate from the ice cream , don't ask me why I just do. Nice place to pick up some cookies!

    (3)
  • melanie c.

yummmm! I've had diddy riese in LA but this was my first time trying CREAM & I loved it. the snickerdoodle cookie was still slightly warm which perfectly paired with the ice cream to help it melt just enough to squish down into a size I could manage to bite into. also the cookie was crisp on the outside but soft on the inside so, to me, that's the perfect cookie. I'll definitely be coming back for more!

    (5)
  • Lauren H.

So much fun! Don't let the line discourage you, it moves quickly, and there are so many options, it will take you all of the time you're waiting to decide what you want! The ice cream sandwich was good but a lot- I couldn't finish it. Next time, I think I'm going to just get a scoop with one cookie on the side.

    (5)
  • Danh N.

Today was the first time I came to this CREAM, and I was very disappointed in their service. It's normal for there to be a long line for CREAM, but not due to the laziness and carelessness of the workers in the back. There was only one person working on the assembly line to take people's orders where there were three workers standing in the back doing nothing other than standing in the back talking to one another. I liked it that the girl that took my order put one of my cookies in to be heated while she scooped the ice cream on one side of my cookie before stacking the cookie that she warmed on top. Aside from the freshness of the cookies and the location of this CREAM, I would not come back to this location.

  • Beatriz S.

This place is a MUST for everyone who loves ice cream! Tried the double chocolate chip cookie with mint chocolate chip ice cream. Very sweet and refreshing! It is also cheaper when you pay with cash ($2.50 vs. $2.99) and you get a free cookie when you purchase $5 worth. There are also several toppings to choose from, but the 2 cookies and the ice cream in between was enough sugar for me. This location is near so many restaurants, shops, and within walking distance from a parking garage as well as a Marinello beauty school in case you want to go get a haircut :-)

    (5)
  • Stephanie L.

Cheap desserts! I go to CREAM when I'm so stuffed from dinner, and I'm so stuffed that I can't eat anything else. However, I MUST... I must find a snack, a boba drink, or a dessert to stuff myself with while I'm in Downtown San Mateo. When I'm in this predicament, I'd come to CREAM. It's affordable and it's fun.

    (5)
  • Leme K.

Cookies baked right in front of you. Ice cream for samples and a team of bright faces with nice smiles welcoming you, despite that they were busy. The team were very kind and patient. They had good flavors of ice cream and they even made a half and half ice cream sandwich: one scoop of some flavor ice cream on one side and another flavor on another. They even cut it in half for me to share with my friend. It was soooo nice of them! Thank you Cream team! Keep up the good work.

    (4)
  • Jade F.

The cookies here are so DELICIOUS. You can make an ice cream sandwich or use waffles, or have a sundae, etc. Endless possibilities. If you're thirsty, you can go to T-Pumps a couple buildings down! There are vegan cookies available and you can make a sandwich (they cost more though), but just beware that the ice cream contains egg and therefore would not be vegan... So if you're a strict vegan, beware. CREAM is definitely something to try, especially in the nice San Mateo weather.

    (5)
  • Brittany B.

It was good, but it could be better. Good concept. Looked pretty but the cookie and ice cream was just alright for all the hype this place gets.

    (3)

It's good for what it is. Some say you could make this a home. True enough. BUT, they have vegan cookies and soy ice cream. That's right up my alley. This location has friendly staff and it's clean. Def worth a try.

Order a cookie sundae: you get one cookie where they break it in half, one scoop of ice cream, and 2 toppings. -1, 2 tops I picked were gummy bears but it was all on top where I had to eat my gummy bears first before I could get to my ice cream. -1, saw little stuff on my gummy bears. Dirty? -1, cookie and ice cream were ok for the price. Taste didn't wow me or anything.

Kinda like Coldstone with the ice cream and toppings, but with cookies. If you're a cookie and ice cream person, it calls to your soul. I got an ice cream sandwich, which seems to be their specialty, and an ice cream cone for my friend. Less than $5!! I was puuuuurty shocked at how inexpensive it was! But my Snickerdoodle cookies were yummy but pretty hard and crunchy, until the Cup of Joe ice cream melted into the cookies and softened it a bit. Pretty big cookies to finish after the ice cream's all gone though... Interesting, but not spectacular...

Soo yummy! Choose two cookies, that are freshly baked with an incredible flavor of ice cream right in between. Just the perfect dessert when your feeling something light and sweet! Sizes are perfect for the $2.50 that it costs! Will be back to try more flavors :)

I LOVE C.R.E.A.M.! Any excuse to go here, I will take it. I used to drive all the way down to Palo Alto (from South City) but now that there's one in San Mateo, I could not be happier. Yes, the line can be quite long at times, but the servers move pretty fast and the wait is definitely worth it. My usual order is the chocolate chip and cappuccino cookies with the salted caramel ice cream. However, I don't know if they stopped making it or they just don't have cappuccino at the San Mateo location, but I did not see it on the menu. I chose the lemon cookie and well, that hit the spot just as well. I've also had the strawberry ice cream there and I love that too. Plus, $2.50 for an ice cream sandwich (if you pay in cash, of course)? Who can resist that?

  • Joshua J.

Dessert Perfection and a rare bargain! It really doesn't get better than 2 warm, fresh baked cookies wrapped around a scoop of salted caramel ice cream except when you get all of that for under $3 (at that rate - I can take my entire family to CREAM for less than the cost of a movie ticket). This is a wonderful addition to the community and a clever business which I'm delighted to support.

WOW! I visited all the way from Austin to see a friend & they took me here for desert! First off line out the door! But I like that, it must be good. Duh CREAM Let me break this down folks: 1) This is the cleanest business establishment I have ever stepped in. It felt like I stepped into a medical building. 2) They make all natural ice cream that is their recipe 3) In House Baked fresh cookies hot out of the oven 4) "Family owned & Operated" yes I said it. It is a franchise but the two gentlemen running the shop are brothers. Very friendly welcoming to their business. 5) It is the cheapest dessert on the block! Who would complain to that? Only if you are cheap & crazy! Ice cream in austin is $3.00 a scoop! This ice cream comes with all natural ice cream & two cookies of your choice! For $2.50 (.50 discount for paying cash) 6) The ice cream sandwich I tried tasted amazing. I had the salted caramel w/ oatmeal cookies. The best combination of an ice cream sandwich I ever had! I told them I was in from out of town & they didn't even charge me. Unheard of. They didn't have to do that but they did. I'm going to spread the word of this amazing ice cream sandwich spot in Austin for sure! Bottom line just try the place! How could you not! Finally someone got a simple dessert spot right! Peace & love

Pros: cheap Con's: cookie is too hard, ice cream is pretty meh I've been to several different ice cream cookie places. I get that a hard cookie is probably better for holding ice cream, but a warm & soft cookie is so much better. Big difference to me. Also, placing all the ice cream on the front edge isn't the best way to go about it. Additionally, there are a ton of ice cream flavors that sound delicious but their ice cream lacks flavor. A couple are okay, but most I probably wouldn't be able to tell apart. They all sort of taste the same. Lastly, the service wasn't great. Nobody seems to be thrilled to be there. They were quick to offer free samples, but even faster to become annoyed when we took them up on the offer. Overall it's definitely the cheapest custom ice cream sandwich I've had, but it wasn't anything to write home about.

Solid cookie/ice cream combo. Cute place, friendly bro/skateboarder-esque service staff who were super helpful to those indecisive people such as myself. Pick a cookie from the list of choices, ice cream, then option of rolling the ice cream in happy bits of toppings! I got the double chocolate chip with the pistachio ice cream - which in hindsight I thought would be green..but it's more like a vanilla-ey hint of pistachio ice cream with whole pistachios in it. I wasn't mad. Cookies were a little small, but meh. Enough. Color theme is my favorite and very modern, but there needs to a subtle color change for the fine print on the logo since it's not super clear. Overall: thumbs up. Pro(fine print)-tip: YOU CAN GET TWO DIFFERENT KINDS OF COOKIES...maybe I was too quick to choose. #nexttime

OMG!!! The perfect treat has arrived to San Mateo. This place is beautiful and the staff is friendly and upbeat along with the music selections playing in the background. Warm cookies and ice cream are a match made in heaven. I'll be back for sure, again and again! Don't cheat yourself, treat yourself :)

The off and on long line has you fortunately smelling the warm, fresh baked cookies that you have to choose for your ice cream sandwich. Hot cookie with ice cold ice cream = YUM. I chose the double chocolate chip cookie with mint chocolate chip ice cream. It was so tasty, a little messy but overall, a great treat for someone with a sweet tooth like myself. The price is right, the crave... Even better!

Not very impressed. The counter where you order is very small with 5-7 workers waving at you next, next. Am I suppose to yell my order at you bc the family of 4 in front of me is taking up the whole ordering area? To me that's a little rude. Anywho, I order my white chocolate macadamia nut cookie, oatmeal raisin cookie with salted Carmel ice cream. With a cookie on the side for my mom. My fiancé orders his cookie and I run over to pay to get away from the ordering counter madness. Once outside, I'm excited to try my warm ice cream sammich, but I'm very sad and disappointed bc he gave a reg chocolate chip cookie instead. They didn't get my order right! How hard is it to grab the right cookie??!! Now I'm disappointed and I don't want to eat my sammich anymore. Minus one star for having a horrible ordering system and minus two stars for getting my order wrong. One extra star for having warm cookies. But will I be back? Maybe if I'm in the area, but I wouldn't drive from ssf again for just the ice cream sammich.

we ordered peanut butter twist, but i think it got totally twisted with a bunch of salt instead. WAY TOO SALTY. the ice cream was so salty. it was bitter! wondered if it was salted caramel by mistake, but couldn't tell. the ice cream was too bitter. it was terrible. or did they use salt instead of sugar when they made this batch of ice cream? what luck. my first Cream experience - argh. ruined my sat night.

We walked by this place not knowing it existed on our way to Tpumps... I smelled something delicious and said, "Something smells good!!!!" And immediately turned my head, and saw a sign that said "CREAM" Needless to say, we walked straight in there, especially since there was NO line! I was excited, because it was our first time. We got the chocolate chip cookie and snicker doodle with Matcha Green Tea ice cream! It's a really great combination! You should try it! :D It was a very quick service, and the cashier was very helpful. My boyfriend LOVED it. I thought it was ok. :D I've had Diddy Reise in LA many times, and I still believe it's the best. But knowing there's a CREAM around the area, I don't mind coming back for my cookie ice cream sandwich cravings! :D

My husband and I went to CREAM based on recommendations given to us by friends. I love sweet treats and I wanted to know why the establishment was given such a rave review. My husband had Rocky Road ice cream with their chocolate chip cookies. He liked that he could customize his ice cream sandwich. I chose Salted Caramel ice cream sandwiched between their Turtle cookies. The ice cream and the cookies combined were too sweet even for my taste--I don't fault CREAM for that since I chose the combo. The cookie was too hard to bite into...I felt I could've chipped a tooth on the caramel. I ended eating the ice cream apart from the cookies--what a total defeat of purpose for an ice cream sandwich. My overall experience was okay. Would I go back to give it another try? Sure, why not-- it'll give me a chance to be a glutton and find perhaps a better combo of cookies and ice cream.

i hope this one doesnt follow the trend of the Palo Alto one, which seems to have insane lines. Since it's so new maybe not a lot of folks know about it yet. Or maybe at some point it will draw the lines away from Tpumps down the way. Im not huge on their coookies so I got just two scoops to go. Green Tea and Pistachio were both really solid. Good frozen texture so that I could bite into it. Lets see what happens when the rain goes away but I have a feeling that it's going to get crazy here.

I've been once and I'm hooked. What a great idea! I was lucky enough not to have a wait. I recommend 1/2 sandwich. And the prices are great- less than $2!!

  • Karen A.

It's no Diddy Riese, but at least it's the first of its kind to open in the area and a fun dessert to have available. The sandwich is on the lighter side since the cookies are thin - makes it easier to eat and get both cookie and ice cream in one bite. We got snicker doodle and choc chip cookies with cookies & cream ice cream. The ice cream didn't have much flavor and the cookies were average homemade-like cookies. My husband called it a diet ice cream sandwich. We'd like some mega calorie Cold Stone sandwiched between Specialty's. But hey, better than another boba shop.

Best ice cream with cookies ever with the best home made cookies the only thing I don't like are the lines

I ended up stopping by here with my coworkers because the place we wanted to go to was closed. The employee was super nice letting us order stuff even though he was closing up shop. I ordered the salted caramel ice cream with chocolate chip and chocolate chocolate cookies. I thought the cookies were nothing special but the ice cream was good. I will go back to try another combination, because ice cream always makes things better.

CREAM is a fantastic dessert place especially after grabbing lunch and dinner with some friends! The usual combo that I normally get is green tea smushed between white chocolate macadamia nut cookies! $2.99 is a good price for ice cream sandwiches though I wish they brought back the $2.50 with cash. Oh well... I guess more reason to use my card!

  • Jessi D.

There a long line outside but it went fast. We probably waited no longer than 15 minutes. The service was excellent. I got the salted Carmel ice cream w/ chocolate chip and snickerdoodle cookie. It was oh so delicious!!!! Yummy!!!! The only negative is the parking. Parking sucks!

Worse Cream i have been to. BAD customer service. Girl working the register acts like she is being forced to be there. A lot of attitude and pretends to punch in your Five star information. Not the first time either. Confirmed with 5 Star app that purchases were never logged. Never coming back to this location.

So what do you get when you size up a softball size ice-cream ball between two cookies? Well you end up here, at "Cream". Now I don't have the biggest sweet tooth but since one of my wife's friends from out of town was here to visit the bay area, this sounded like a fun place and with the crazy lines out the door, I was curious to see what this was all about. So upon entering, you choose your ice-cream flavor and your type of cookie. There's an additional charge for toppings. I chose the Macaedemia Nut cookie with cookies and cream for my ice-cream. It was very compact but tasty. Now this isn't anything really special if you think about it. It's basically ice-cream served between 2 cookies. But it is a clever concept and this company seems to be running with it and doing excellent business wise. Is this the best ice-cream you'll ever taste? Probably not. Are the cookies the best you'll ever taste? Probably not. But take the clever concept for what's it's worth. Real quick. The lines can get crazy. Our starting point was a little outside the front door entrance. From that point, it only took about 4-5 minutes to place our order, which in the grand scheme of things, went pretty quick. I would say during peak times where you're standing on the sidewalk, 10 minute wait times might be expected. We were lucky b/c 5 minutes is my max.

3 or 4 stars for the actual food, but the staff left a bad taste for everyone in our group. They didn't listen to orders and every employee we encountered had an attitude emitting palpable levels of frustration and anger. Recommendation to management and ownership would be better training and hire people who understand basic customer service...oh and remember they are getting paid.

GLUTEN-FREE PREMIUM ICE CREAM SANDWICHES Right, now that we've got that out of the way... My Wife and I are both gluten intolerant, and heard about this place from one of her co-workers (Who has to find preservative-free food due to an allergy in her family). We tried it out, and discovered a few things: 1) The line is often very long 2) For good reason 3) There's a danger of them running out of some of the more specialty cookies. They had GF Oatmeal & Raisin and Snickerdoodle, but were out of Chocolate Chip. 4) The Mint Chip is excellent 5) The Very Berry Strawberry is excellent 6) The GF Oatmeal Raisin cookies are excellent 7) Cash Discount 8) Apparently I like numbered lists 9) When you order GF, they ask if you're allergic, and swap their gloves to help reduce contamination risk. 10) They have a dedicated ice cream scoop for GF customers, again to reduce contamination risk. The way it works generally is like this: Pick a cookie flavour, an ice cream flavour, and any toppings. They then warm the cookies, put ice cream between them, apply toppings, and give them to you. They also have ice cream tacos. Overall I would definitely recommend it, although I'm doing well on my ketogenic diet, so I need to limit myself to one visit a month! tl;dr Gluten-Free Ice Cream Sandwiches

  • Moises M.

My cookies were soft and delicious. The ice cream was tasty. I give it 3 stars instead of 4 because the one topping I chose ended up all in the bag and none on my ice cream cookie.

So after hearing about the hype about this place and it's extensive locations, I can't hep but feel the disappointment in what was the most lackluster ice cream sandwich experience that I have ever had. ( They were free... but still... ). First and foremost the taste. When I hear ice cream sandwich I think of amazing ice cream, cold but not quite frozen. Today I had the Strawberry shortcake and the strawberries were rock hard with little hints of what could be freezer burn layered in between 2 white chocolate macadamia nut cookies that were just too sweet for my liking. My main complaint would have to be the cookies. I don't know about everyone else but for me, an ice cream cookie sandwich meant soft and warm cookies, not cookies that I can find better at Ms. Fields. For a place that boasts in it's name the importance of the cookies, I can't help but say that I am severely disappointed. 3 stars for the friendly servers that were working there

I've been wanting to try this place. After having lunch in the area, we walked in & 2 nice guys were quick to serve us. It smelled WONDERFULLLLL inside. Hubs loves milkshakes so we got the salted caramel. Yum! I couldn't resist the ice cream sandwiches. Ice cream sandwiched between 2 warm cookies. I couldn't decide so the guy recommended the best trio: Snicker doodle & cc cookie with salted caramel ice cream. Yummo!!!! DD wanted a kids strawberry ice cream, sprinkles, and m &m . She ate every bite. Service was great. Place Is Super clean. Perfect dessert on a hot day. $2.99 ea sandwich or 2.50 CASH price. Great deal! The only complaint is they have not enough seating and no where for kids to sit (only high bar stools). Bummer! So we had to stand up, leaning against the bar counter table while trying to eat my sandwich before it melted while trying to feed my DD her ice cream.

Yummy!! Don't need to go all the way to Berkeley anymore. And by the way I love gummy bears. Only bad thing is parking and long lines. :D. All the servers have a great smile as well. I love workers with a good attitude.

Concept is cool, ice cream and cookies are just ok. The staff is young, irresponsible and unprofessional. They were super distracted and playing around so much that I can't take this place seriously.

  • Neema S.

Ordered the brownie (you can get it with walnuts for an extra $0.20) for the first time. Yummy, but definitely not worth almost $3!! I recommend you stick with ice cream for this one! I love how cheap CREAM is, and the wait is never too bad. They also have gluten-free and vegan cookies. They have a wide variety of flavors to match any taste! Have yet to try their veggie bars. The only thing I don't like is that their cookies are super hard; I don't recommend you have them heat them up for you because this just causes the cookies to get hard extra fast. But hey, for their prices, I'm not complainin'!

can't believe this location has been here so long and i haven't wrote a review yet. been here so many times. always a line. means the cookies are just constantly being baked and are super gooey and soft. although some days the cookies are better than others. once i had the double chocolate chip cookie and it was hard. the next time i had it, it was soft the way i like it. but snicker doodle has always been consistent. so i go for that. i always just go for my fav snicker doodle and carnival. then for ice cream i think I've tried them all! my favs are probably blueberry cheesecake, chocoholic, and cinnamon chill. i mean its such a simple concept, two cookies with ice cream in the middle. but it just works. and the price is awesome! 2.50 paying with cash or 2.99 with credit card. and they even have a stamp card but i think I've been cheated. i been there so many times and only got 1 free sandwich so far. whatev. taco tuesday they got discounts on the taco. one of these days i should try it. looks good. three scoops of ice cream in a taco waffle cone.

The drive, commute, and $5 toll on the way back from Berkeley was worth the ice cream sandwich before this location opened up, but having a CREAM in the peninsula is a gift from the ice cream heavens. While I have visited CREAM during several occasions, I am always wowed at the amount of options to choose from. The ice cream to cookie or milkshake or ice cream taco possibilities are immense. I ordered a green tea ice cream sandwich with a snicker doodle cookie and an M&M cookie. I won't sugar coat how tasty it is because a nice, soft, lukewarm ice cream cookie sandwich is something that you can imagine in your head. It is a desert experience that is at least worth having once. What didn't give this CREAM a perfect rating was the knowledge of the employee. After asking the employee, "What's your opinion on the green tea ice cream," she blankly replied with "To be honest, I don't know." I was pretty unimpressed with this; she couldn't asked another worker, or maybe the manager, but I was left there standing a bit in awe with the lackluster and honest opinion. But it's alright, ice cream is ice cream, how can you complain! I'll be back next week regardless.

  • Shaniah M.

One word: BOMB! I hadn't had CREAM before and finally had the chance to once my family rolled into town. We were all in agreement that it was a great spot and the cost of everything was good! Not only that, the ice cream sandwiches, shakes, cookies, and customer service was just absolutely amazing! I enjoyed it and recommend it! And, they're opening locations in SoCal close to home which is even better! Now I can have my CREAM fix at home or here while in school! Win-win!

A friend of mine invited me to Cream in Berkeley after I took her to Brazil Cafe. Needless to say I thought this place was great. If you haven't been here I'll try to explain it to you without drooling all over my keyboard. You basically get two freshly baked WARM cookies of your choosing with a generous portion of ice cream (again of your choosing) in the middle. It really doesn't get any better. It's nostalgic. The first bite taking you back to simpler times. When I found out there was one in San Mateo I went the week after with another friend from school. You pretty much can't go wrong with whatever combination you choose. Plus the staff is very friendly at both locations and incredibly helpful especially if it is your first time there. And the best part is that it's cheap. Go with friends/family, on date night, or for fun. Enjoy.

Best ice cream around this area since they closed Stone Cold. Like the fact that you can choose your flavor of cookies, ice cream and toppings. Ice cream isn't too sugary sweet either. They also have vegan and gluten--free choice for cookies. Great place to stop by if you're in the neighborhood.

It has good flavors and great cookies, just prepared for a long line and it would take a couple of minutes, but the service and the quality is worth the wait .

Brilliant concept but not sure if it's a wait down the street. Two cookies sandwiching an ice cream flavor of your choice. The cookies were ok. I would order the strawberry cheesecake ice cream on its own next time.

I was excited that cream opened up in dt San Mateo, instead of driving all the way to Palo Alto. The line gets really long (especially on hot days). The place is small but no tables to sit to enjoy your ice cream. I was very disappointed that my cookie was rock hard. The cookie that I got tasted like a old cookie. It literally felt like I was biting on cement. The girl who was serving me even warmed it up in the oven. Eventually I just ate the ice cream instead and tossed out the cookie. I was very disappointed that I wasted $4.99 on one cream sandwich.. I guess they don't really serve fresh cookies to every customers. Make sure you don't get a bad batch and request for a soft fresh cookie! sadly.. I won't be coming here anymore and just make my own CREAM at home.

    (1)
  • Willie W.

This place is Fantastic! I'm so glad I don't have to travel to Berkeley or Palo Alto anymore. Plain and simply, CREAM does it right. They do something simple, and they do it well. And that's the true key to successful companies out there in the world. For those yelpers (one in particular who I won't name) who don't see what's so special because they can "make their own at home using Ben and Jerry's and Ms. Fields cookies", I'd say sure, go for it. Have fun on your couch with your 12 cats and marathon TV surfing of the Lifetime and Oxygen Network. But for $2.5, you can have someone do all the work for you. That's kind of how restaurants work. Sure, you COULD make your own sandwich, and buy your own dutch crunch bread and meat and cheese and veggies. And wrap it up yourself and place it in a brown paper bag before you go to work. But some of us out there enjoy purchasing something hand prepared by a specialist. Yes, a specialist. That is someone who does it professionally and is way better at it than you are. That said.... It's a fucking solid Ice Cream sandwich, made to order by hand, in between two warm cookies of your choice. And it's under $3. What the hell is not to love about that? Furthermore, service is always friendly, execution is always on-point, and they were able to fulfill a large last minute order I placed for my office recently. The office loved it by the way! It's fun, easy, affordable and a great way to put a smile on my girlfriends face as well as my own. Great for families, parties and for work. Best part is the vibe in their is awesome and friendly and the tunes really just go well with the ice cream sandwich eating experience. Plus on the tunes! Favorite Cookie MUST TRY: Snicker Doodle Cookies with Salted Caramel in the middle. Daaaaammmmmmnnnnn! That shit good! Hopefully Wu Tang is playing while you eat it! Go spend 3 of those hard-earned greenbacks and put a smile on your face. You can thank me later.

Thank you cream team for making my sons 7th birthday party such a memorable event for his family and friends. You not only made every order of 22 creams custom for each child, added a few last minute and had every child's name written, which made my life much easier that day, and not one mistake! What a treat and a bargain!

I heard about the hype about this place from when it opened up in the South Bay a few weeks ago. I was a bit excited when I saw the construction signs pop up in downtown and was even more excited when I saw it finally open this evening. I popped in and saw that a good chunk of staff was still being trained, which is fine. I went easy and just grabbed a scoop of salted caramel ice cream over two sugar cookies, which was delicious. However, considering I had dinner right before, that ice cream sandwich was definitely filling, like I almost had some regret towards the end. But it was still delicious. Maybe next time I can defer from the extra cookie and feel less guilty. Hope all goes well for the grand opening tomorrow and for the future. :)

I was surprised that we were the only ones in the store. I ordered a scoop of strawberry cheesecake and a white chocolate mac nut cookie. The cookie was delish. Same as all the other locations. The cheesecake chunks had a weird texture tho. I had the same thing at the PA location and tasted much better. And the service was just ok.

I can't be--scratch that--I won't be mad at an ice cream cookie sandwich EVER. Now I've been to the original one in Berkeley so can't help but compare the two. While I do appreciate the San Mateo location being closer to me, the Berkeley one still got one star more. Reason being is the price. Yeah, yeah it's just 50 cents more (if you pay with cash) here than over there but still. Plus the line was pretty damn long. Can I please give a shoutout to that green tea ice cream and butter sugar combo?! Hey boo, it's me Abby. You was so perfs that first time. You tryna go for Round 2 tho?! /End of ratchetry.] I will definitely come back! For all you newbies to the area, you've got Cha Cha Cha, B Street and Vine, TPumps and Joy Sushi within two blocks from this joint. Good luck with that diet!

    (4)
  • Petra S.

The first location I tried was in Berkeley, however, I found the cookies to be on the harder side. After seeing that one opened in the peninsula, I had to try it and quite frankly, I love that each time I have come in, the cookies were freshly out the oven and just slightly crunchy while being pleasantly soft and chewy. I recommend the strawberry cheesecake with white chocolate macadamia nut cookie. Btw, its only $2.50 for one of these if you pay in cash, otherwise it's $3.00, which still isn't bad!

    (4)
  • Sara T.

I wanted to check this place out & see what all the hype was about. The line was pretty long, but it moved at a good speed. A lot of people were drinking tpumps WHILE waiting in line. Super calorie overload, haha! I ordered the rocky road with chocolate chip cookies. The cookie is warm but cools down fast once the ice cream is sandwiched in. It's quite messy, so I recommend grabbing a spoon to help eat it. They also let you sample any of the ice creams. They're open late too, which is awesome in case you're out late and craving for something sweet.

    (4)

Always honestly the best. I'm so happy they opened one closer in to the peninsula! It's also gonna be dangerous for my weight... But they're so filling I usually eat one as a meal carbs and protein right? The first combo I ever tried is still probably my favorite: vegan cookies banana and tuxedo plus cup of joe ice cream. Unfortunately this one it $5. My next recommendation is ROYAL CARAMEL SWIRL with chocolate chip cookie and oatmeal raisin! Recently tried cookies and cream which is also delicious and goes great with warm cookies If you're looking to add a topping, I HIGHLY recommend Oreo! You've got creamy cold ice cream, doughy hot cookies, then that additional crunch is just unf.

Unless you're sodium deficient, avoid the Peanut Butter Twist like the plague. The extreme saltiness will make you forget you're eating dessert, but unfortunately, won't let you forget you just waited 30 minutes for a salt lick. I waited to get home then scraped the ice cream into a trash can and just ate the cookies. Hopefully, the ice cream chef accidentally added too much salt and the recipe's not meant to be that way.

My first visit to a CREAM shop, which stands for (Cookies Rule Everything Around Me), was at the newly opened location here in San Mateo. I have heard of this place before through friends and of course Yelp and my family and I were here in San Mateo visiting this Nursery and I remember seeing on the web a CREAM shop here in San Mateo! So here it is, my first visit at CREAM! We came here at around 3:30 in the afternoon and there was a line outside the door, however it wasn't that long of a line. We only had to wait like probably less than 10 minutes. The store is located I guess in like Downtown San Mateo, by the theaters. As we were walking towards CREAM, I saw a Cold Stone Creamery with literally no business, I only saw the workers kind of just standing around, lol CREAM is taking over their business! When you get inside to the counter, if your ordering an Ice Cream Sandwich, you do these 3 simple steps: 1. Pick your Cookies, mix or match 2. Choose your Ice Cream Flavor 3. Add Toppings (Optional, 75 Cents more). $2.50 each if you pay cash, otherwise there $2.99! I had a Double Chocolate Chip Cookie with Cookies & Cream Ice Cream & my parents shared another. Parking is on the street. No place to sit down and enjoy your Ice Cream Sandwich so eat on the go! My wonder is why they sell 22.oz Soda for $1.79 here!? I wonder how many people actually purchase fountain drinks here...I mean it's an Ice Cream shop...lol. Great Ice Cream Sandwich! Recommend everyone give CREAM a try! :)

This review is not for the food -- it's for the service. The food is great--you can't go wrong with cookies and ice cream. Tried the salted caramel for the first time and it was delicious. BUT the service sucked. There were a bunch of teenage boys serving in the front and they were pretty much just hitting on the girls. At one point, it almost seemed like they were pointedly ignoring me because they were so engrossed in a conversation with the two ladies in front of me. It got to the point where I wanted to wave my hand in their faces because there was NO ONE in front of me except at the register.

Their ice cream is delicious. The salted caramel is my favorite. So are their cookies. I really like the white chocolate chip macadamia nut ones. Please make note that the temperature differential is the key to the experience. Generally the cookies are really warm and practically melt into a delicious texture that covers your palate and complements the ice cream texture with a hot/cold flavor meshing that cannot be explained in words. If you haven't been there once, you must try one of their ice cream sandwiches. Once I came here and was served cookies that were dry and then it got cold really fast and hardened from the icecream. It was really lackluster that time. That is a rare occurrence though. I'm sure if you had that problem they would be happy to fix it because their customer service seems good.

Love this place - was wondering when someone would open up an ice cream sandwich place in the peninsula. Heard about it from a friend who goes to the one in Berkeley. Next time, though, I might have to do a half order. The full cookie and huge scoop of ice cream was a bit much for my lactose intolerance - haha. I had a snicker-doodle and green tea sammich - bomb dot com.

Good cookies...check Ice-cream...check Really slow service....sorry but check I got to try 2 different ice-cream sandwiches so you have to master this craft through trial and error. Personally I like white chocolate chip cookies and strawberry cheesecake ice-cream to go with this combo. While this was good, it is nowhere near as good as the turtle cookie, double chocolate chip with the salted caramel. As far as ice-cream prices are, this is semi-reasonable as most ice-cream places charge this amount but I see myself buying or making my own cookies at home and sandwiching store-bought ice-cream to make my own bundle of joy. Save the trouble of waiting in a long line for something you can do at home.

Went here for the first time tonight and it seemed that Cream took all the business from T-Pumps. The line was 2 stores down the block and had about 50 people from us to the door but surprisingly enough it only took us about 15 min to get to the counter. I ordered a sandwich with 1 peanut butter cookie, 1 Cappuccino cookie, Chocoholic ice cream and Peanuts. I thought with a name like Chocoholic it would have been a chocolate ice cream with fudge or chocolate pieces but was kind of disappointed to find out it was plain old chocolate. The Cappuccino cookie was intriguing as well but it tasted like a sugar cookie. I think this place is more about nostalgia then taste and innovation. I was considering the peanut butter Twist Ice cream too but there were a few reviews saying it was overly salty. My final thought: You can get the same taste from the ice cream sandwiches in the freezer section of your local grocery store with the exception of the few vegan and gluten free products but I think they have that at the grocery store as well.

I'm so glad a cream has finally come to San Mateo!! Actually I'm glad for any store that rivals the Tpumps line. Since this Cream just opened, the line is very long. I went on a cold, late Sunday night and I was surprised it was still out the door! The wait was pretty long, as the line moved along very slowly but that's to be expected as they are new. Now for the food: I ordered an ice cream sandwich with a chocolate chip and white chocolate macadamia nut cookie (Yes you can choose 2 different cookies). And I selected the highly recommended green tea ice cream. The cookies were AMAZING! Like always, Cream produces warm, soft yet crispy cookies that taste like they are just fresh out of the oven. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the ice cream as much. I guess green tea just doesn't go well with cookies, the flavor was off and it didn't mesh well together at all. It was also pretty bland, but I wasn't sure if it was because it was simply overpowered by the sweetness of the cookies or if the ice cream itself wasn't flavored much. Like I've said in another Cream review, it would be really helpful if they would display the popular cookie and ice cream combos so that people who are new can have an idea of what goes well together. I'll definitely be coming back for the delicious cookies, and I'm hoping I struck better luck next time with the ice cream I choose! P.S. Pay with cash or you'll be charged .50 cents for using credit!

Saw the long line and had to check-out what the craze was about. The line moved well and we only stood in line for about 15 minutes. This allowed us to figure-out what we wanted, which was time well spent. Once we got to the counter, we ordered and got our ice cream sandwiches very quickly. I ordered the double chocolate chip and Carnival cookies with mint chocolate chip ice cream. My wife ordered a chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies with the peanut butter twist ice cream. The cookies were fresh and the scoop of ice cream was larger than I expected. Can't beat the prices and the sandwiches were very good. Can't wait to try more flavors..........

CREAM is like getting the best of both worlds: cookies and ice cream! The first time I came here, I was amazed at the options they had. You can pick any two cookies for your sandwich (and by that I mean mix and match), the ice cream you want, and the toppings. If you think about it, the idea of an ice cream cookie sandwich isn't new, but it gets the job done by satisfying your sweet tooth. They are very generous with the ice cream as well. Each scoop is like the size of a giant baseball! I usually get the carnival cookies with mint chocolate chip. Sometimes, you can get lucky and get the cookies that are fresh out of the oven. The cookies and ice cream aren't the best I've ever had, but it also isn't anything to complain about either. The only complaint I have is how it is always crowded whenever I get there. It's not the longest wait I have to go through, but sometimes it doesn't seem worth it if I have to wait 10+ minutes just to get a ice cream cookie sandwich. Overall, CREAM is definitely a great dessert place to go after eating lunch or dinner from nearby places. I would definitely go here again if I was in the area.

This review is dedicated to my Vegas AVN buddy, Brandon. It was just daddy and the little kid on this beautiful Saturday in the Peninsula. After a day of plane spotting at SFO and some Orange Park fun, the kid wanted some Baskin Robbins ice cream. Since we were in San Mateo, I remembered wanting to try Cream, but never got a chance because of the long lines. Today, the line was relatively short. This being my first time, I was stressing out standing in the quick moving line. Aside from trying not to look like a rookie, I had my little tyke in hand crying because she wanted her ice cream right then and there. I'm studying the menu, and like always, it came down to a game time decision. My kid wanted strawberry. With sprinkles. And gummies. Easy enough. For me, I just couldn't do their specialty - a custom made It's It copy of an ice cream sandwich. You order a flavor of ice cream and they smash it between two large cookies of your choosing. Gut busting for sure. I ended up ordering a good compromise - an ice cream sundae with one cookie. I had the coconut ice cream with oatmeal cookie. Great creamy flavor of the ice cream, and the cookie tasted like it was homemade and not mass produced. I stole some from my daughter and the strawberry flavor was also nice and creamy. I guess they stayed true to their name. Sweet tooth fans, this place is a must try, and different enough from all the other places to make it interesting. Another plus...unfettered access to their napkin supply. A definite plus with a 3 year old in hand!

I love dessert and I hate to give sweet establishments anything less, but I'll preface this by saying I actually went here twice hoping my first time was a fluke. Both times, I had to toss my ice cream sandwiches half way through. It's blasphemy! Cookies were not moist and ice cream was... eh. I've had better ice cream at chain ice cream shops, and I've definitely baked softer cookies at home. It's almost safe to say CREAM is the McDonald's of ice cream sandwiches. Cheap, low quality, and open late. I'm amazed with how often there are lines out the door here.

Been here a few times, and have decided it's nothing special I'd line up for. I like the concept of ice cream between cookies made on the spot. However, the cookies were a bit too hard for me, so when you try to bite into the sandwich the ice cream gets squeezed out, which ends up being a messy treat. Also, the cookies were too sweet for me, so the whole sandwich ended up being too sugary. The ice cream by itself is nothing special. The pistachio ice cream just doesn't taste like pistachio.

I got the few vegan selections they have. They have a whomping two vegan ice creams to choose from-- soy vanilla and soy mint chip. Got the soy vanilla with one banana walnut chocolate chip and snicker doodle. Checked out at the counter, got charged, and then I asked whether those were the only two vegan flavors they had. The guy was like, 'Oh, that's vegan? I'll have to charge you two more dollars. Could I have your card back?' So my ice cream sandwich came out to $5. Yikes. Is it really that much more expensive to make, or are you making a better margin on these "health" foods? I can understand gluten free, but vegan doesn't make sense to me. As for the actual taste of everything, full disclosure, I just ate SUPER spicy beforehand, so my taste buds were out of wack. I could barely taste the vanilla bean, dough, and smidge of cinnamon and chocolate. They do give you a hearty proportion of ice cream. DO NOT get just ice cream: it's basically a rip off with the amount and price you pay and more worth it if you get the ice cream sandwich. Towards the end, my ice cream was starting to melt. I also never realized how weird it is eating an ice cream sandwich-- you can't really bite into it because it will explode out or be too cold for your mouth/teeth, so I was just licking the ice cream and taking bites of the cookie. I was sitting in the small counter seating they have, next to the small soda machine, facing everybody in line and stuffing my face like a cat bird. Otherwise, friendly staff working the counter and cute packaging you find at every booming dessert place. We got there juuust before the weekend after-lunch rush, and I mean literally. I was debating on what to get and considered going to the end of the line when I realized it was out the door. I definitely won't be waiting in line for this place, much less paying $5 to get my dessert fix.

If you have cash, your cookie is .50c cheaper at $2.50. I'm a chocolate fiend and ordered, rocky road ice cream, with double chocolate cookie and a chocolate chip cookie. So good!!!! I had a piece of heaven for a few minutes. Then it was gone. My recommendation would have to be for the owner to figure out how to make the menu more legible? Had a hard time reading the menu. Felt that the line moved pretty fast. Make you way into the crowd and order your ice cream. Get it girl!!!!!

Even though the lines can be a little long at times, the service, atmosphere and quality of CREAM is beyond excellent. Amazing price point, portion size, and if your lucky, ice cream sandwiches and a show, performed by the amazing staff of Cream of San Mateo. Definitely, a must stop place in the peninsula...and the cater too!!

This review is solely based on service. Last night around 9:00pm my boyfriend and I went to Cream (our first experience) and there were 10 people in font of us. Busy is always a good sign! There were two female employees and a male. The entire time we waited, the male employee was behind the counter in front of the register talking on his cell phone ignoring everyone waiting for ice cream. Employees that don't care about their jobs is always frustrating to see. We waited just under 10 minutes and since the line wasn't moving we decided to leave. Imagine how much more of a profit you could make with diligent employees that actually worked while on the clock.

An ice cream spot that's open late and has in house baked cookies !?! Whaaaaaa!?! 2.50 (CASH) for a build your own ice cream sandwich !? Whaaaa!? So I had 2 chocolate cookies with mint Ice cream. Can we say mmm mmmm good! The cookies were still warm, moist, soft, and chewy. The bf got the chocolate cookies with strawberry ice cream ... He couldn't finish the whole thing so I ended up trying to finish both .... It was better mixing all flavors together !!! It was a mint-strawberry chocolate cookie sandwich ! Bomb.com . The line was pretty long, but the free cookie with a $5 purchase made up for It. Don't forget to use the free cookie coupon on yelp!

At a certain point, I'd given up trying to get an ice cream sandwich. Every time I've tried, the line has been out the door and moving incredibly slowly. I'm pretty sure I've seen the lines from T-Pumps and Cream touch on several occasions. Today seemed like my best opportunity since it was raining cats and dogs and the wind and cold were fairly intense. I walked over with my fingers crossed and the place was completely empty except for me! YAY! Well, yay for me.... I got a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie with green tea ice cream. I'd say it was really good, but not great. If I'd waited in one of those epic lines I probably would've dropped a star. I definitely think the ice cream was better quality than the cookie. My wife thought the opposite. Anyway, the place is super clean and the menu is well-organized and easy to read. The people behind the counter were terrific and the prices were very reasonable for the amount of food you get. I'll be back.... the next time it rains! :)

Ice cream sandwiches?! Why has no one thought of this before?! Unfortunately, CREAM doesn't quite live up to expectations. The main reason for this is that the cookies are just not very tasty. An ice cream sandwich is so simple that it doesn't work unless both the cookies AND the ice cream are delicious. While I loved the mint chocolate ice cream in my sandwich, the cookies were bleh. I'd love to see CREAM change their cookie recipe, because this is easily a 5-star place otherwise. The ice cream is great, as is the service. The line, while absurdly long, moved surprisingly quickly. Give this place a shot for the experience, and don't forget to grab a spoon and a napkin! Tip: Bring cash. You'll save a quarter on every sandwich if you pay in cash instead of by card.

I love the ice cream sandwiches here (white chocolate macadamia nut cookies with green tea ice cream, yum!), but the staff is never overly friendly. The line is always out the door for this place (especially on a Friday or Saturday night), so be prepared to wait a bit. Definitely worth the price for this delicious dessert!

Great atmosphere, there was a line, as to be suspected... And written about on the reviews. There were a TON of options, gluten and vegan free options, soy ice cream, and many many flavors to choose. The employees were helpful, providing their opinions and favorite combos, offering tastes of flavors, and quickly providing the service when asked. They were also very helpful and willing to go along with the Yelp free cookie with purchase. Very high customer service as well as high quality products. Can't wait to go back, hopefully This helps more people choose to visit.

Hm... ice cream or tpumps... definitely going to be the real question everytime I come down this street. CREAM definitely won the first time as they had their grand opening and gave out FREE ice cream sandwiches! The line was long of course, but it was definitely worth the wait. I got the banana walnut fudge ice creme sandwiched between 2 carnival (M&M) cookies. YUM! The ice cream was delicious although this particular one kind of lacked on the walnuts. The cookies were really good as well. It was soft and chewy, but then the coldness of the ice cream kind of hardens the cookies. The second time I went (no free ice cream sandwiches this time, but I was craving ice cream), I got the peanut butter chip ice cream with a white chocolate chip macadamia cookie. The ice cream was delicious again (this might be my new favorite flavor) and the cookies wern't as soft as last time but still good. Overall, the ice cream is delicious (3rd time I said this?) and the cookies are good, but are hit and miss on softness, though I do see them making it fresh behind the counter. Process is simple - pick a cookie (or 2 different ones!), pick an ice cream flavor, and add toppings if you want it. Bonus: you get 50 cents off each cookie if you pay by CASH! Chyeah! Other than the ice cream sandwiches though (which are about $2.50 if paid in cash), the rest of the menu is kind of pricey. But if it's made with their ice cream, I'm sure it's good. Definitely one of my new fave dessert places in SM!

I had never heard of this place before but noticed a huge line outside so I put it on my list of things to try. I loved the idea of building your own ice cream sandwich with cookies and how many different options there were. It's fairly priced, $2.50 if you pay cash and a little more for credit card. I am a huge fan of cinnamon ice cream and haven't been able to find it in many places so I was ecstatic that they had this flavor. It's not the most amazing ice cream I've had but pretty good. I paired it with chocolate chip cookies which had the perfect texture, soft in the middle. They bring the cookies out warm so it was a bit difficult to eat the ice cream sandwich without the ice cream melting everywhere. I ended up spooning the ice cream and eating the cookies separately. I'd probably get the cookie sundae next time as it would be easier to eat (1 cookie w/ a scoop of ice cream and 2 toppings).

I love, love, love toasted almond ice cream. I don't love it here. It's nowhere near Fentons in Oakland. The winning point at CREAM is that they have gluten free options and they go as far as making sure it's completely gluten free for those wi have allergies like me. Changing gloves and everything. I always appreciate when businesses try to cater to people with allergies and sensitivities. I'm probably biased because I love with the allergy and I'm an RN. They get a huge kudos from me for going that extra mile. The honest truth about the ice cream itself though is that it is mediocre. Maybe I'm an ice cream snob? I don't know. What I do know is that after trying multiple flavors, they are all just "alright". In comparison to many other ice cream shops, the ice cream itself here tastes generic.

  • Felicia S.

Meh...The only 2 things that were cool about this place was the nice guy that rang us up and there was barely a line. we were probably 5th in line. The ice-cream sandwich is just too difficult to eat and the cookie doesn't stay warm for too long because of the ice-cream. The ice-cream started to melt and the cookie and ice-cream became uneven while I was eating it. Its just too messy. Don't get me wrong the ice-cream sandwich is arrite.but I wouldn't crave it. My opinion..I'd rather get a pizookie from BJs..

My friend and I tried this place during the summer. It was pretty good, to think something so simple would be such a big hit. We liked that you got to choose everything instead of it all being pre-made. We will definitely be back.

The store looks cute and bright. I was excited, but the workers are quite unfriendly..I don't care, but just confused :/ what did I do to them? 8:30 on Sunday night.. ? Both person scooping and cashier were oddly grumpy. Anyway, can't go wrong with ice cream and cookies, slightly pricy $2.99. I would come back if I was here.

I don't have a huge sweet tooth, so CREAM is the type of place I go to once every couple of months, or on those rare sunny Bay Area days. My go to sandwich consists of the snickerdoodle/white choco macadamia nut cookie with either rocky road or cookies and cream ice cream. The sandwiches here taste way better than those at Diddy Riese in LA, but don't quite compare to the original ice cream cookie sandwich, It's It. Regardless, its definitely something that will satisfy any sweet cravings you may have, plus, there's lots of things to see and eat in San Mateo, so this makes a nice little dessert spot. **pay with cash and get a small discount

I have gone here a few times and both times without lines...Its nothing TOO special to be honest. Nothing I can't make at home either. But it is yummy and I like it because it it not too sweet.

  • Scott A.

I'd give this place 3 stars relative to Diddy Reese who's cookies aren't as good as CREAM's or ice cream flavors aren't as good, but much bigger and cheaper. Service is good here and the girl who helped us was very nice so I took it up a star. With a ton of boba places & restaurants this place has the potential to do well. I'd go back, but wish the scoop of ice cream in my cookie sandwich was a bit bigger.

The concept is simple. Take two fresh baked cookies and put a large scoop of ice cream in between...done! What I love about cream is the variety...there are 10 types of cookies to choose from and 16 flavors of ice cream! The combinations are endless - add to the fact that you can have 2 different cookies and that only adds more to the variety. Its a very tasty and affordable dessert at $2.50. This location is brand new and shamelessly competes with T-pumps just a few stores over. B-street is pretty much the spot now. I ordered an ice cream sandwich composed of green tea ice cream sandwiched between 1 white chocolate/macadamia and 1 cappuccino flavored cookie. The cappuccino cookie was overdone, it was super crispy...good for keeping the "sandwich" integral, but bad for getting any real flavor out of the cookie. The combination worked pretty well otherwise. You can also add a variety of toppings (i.e. rolled in the ice cream on the side) or order everything a la carte, so fear not cookie purists or ice cream purists!

  • Nia R.

I love this place. Even though I know I can make my own ice cream sandwiches at home I love all the options here. I also just discovered that you can order a half sandwich. So they will make you an ice cream sandwich out of one cookie. I like this option because the first time I ordered a sandwich 2 cookies was way too much. I love how the flavors change with the seasons as well. The milkshakes are also delicious and you can add cookies to those as well. I love how the cookies are soft but not too soft that they collapse when put into a sandwich. Also love that they have vegan options! They offer a discount if you pay in cash.

LOVE cream. Simple and so tasty plus the Prices aren't bad either. There's always a line but it's just a testament of how good it actually is and worth the wait. This is one my favorite because it isn't too out of the way. The one in Berkeley is cool but it is such a hassle to get to and there's the whole crossing the bridge thing. The service is always super quick and friendly. I have only gone a handful of times but each time I go the workers are always friendly and helpful with choosing a good combination for the ice cream sandwich! Overall great business and will be back for the great ice cream and service!

Cold ice cream sandwiched in between two freshly baked cookies? Yes please! This was my first time here, after waiting over a year to try this, and I can say that it lives up to my expectations. The staff seemed happy and they were extremely helpful. I ended up getting snickerdoodle cookies and cup of joe ice cream (coffee flavor), and it was so good. I was having a really really bad day, and one bite just made it that much better:) I would come here everyday if I lived here. Thank god I don't! For the price, I think it is a good deal because one ice cream sandwich ($2.50) is cheaper than a cup of boba at Tpumps, surprisingly. I'm going to have to come back and try more combinations!

It's insane how they cover gluten free, vegan, and lactose intolerance with the available sandwich assembly options. Dream spot for anyone that loves this kind of place, but has been limited by their intolerance. The music has fit just the kind of mood you're in when deciding to go to this spot, at least for me. Usually old school or rich modern jams. This really adds value vibes to experience. Haven't been here enough to know what how crowded it gets at all possible times in the day/week, but it's hasn't been congested yet. Make sure you left plenty of room for dessert, this ice cream sandwich ain't nutin ta f**k with

I'll go ahead and be the first one to review this newly-opened shop in San Mateo on B Street. For those that don't know, there's a few "Cream" (Cookies Rule Everything Around Me) locations around the bay area. I first heard about it when I was in Berkeley and it has just been a hit ever since. It's basically an ice cream sandwich made with fresh cookies. Multiple flavors and combinations that you can try, so be adventurous! Each ice cream sandwich is about $2.50 (cash price) or $2.99 with a CC. I came here during the store's soft opening and there were a good amount of people that stumbled in. I tried the carnival cookie (sugar cookie with mini m&m's everywhere) and the double chocolate chip. Definitely a fan of the carnival, but not so much the double chocolate chip. Cookies are a soft but a bit smallish with one scoop of ice cream in between, but it'll be a fun game to try and eat this sandwich without getting ice cream all over your mouth. I'm hoping that this place will stick around, as there seems to be a multitude of restaurants and dessert places popping in and out of B street in san mateo. Friendly staff that seemed to be happy to serve. I know i'll be coming back to try the other flavors and cookies!

A beautifully made ice cream sandwich, in theory, is wonderful on every level. You have everything your 5 year old inner child desires - a warm cookie, ice cream, and toppings, to boot. Cream does a great presentation - their ice cream sandwiches are extremely photogenic, worthy on the level of Instagram food porn. BUT, the quality isn't on par with the presentation, unfortunately. I found the taste of the ice cream to be average (blueberry cheesecake and salted caramel), the chocolate sauce to be overly sweet, and the brownie too dense. Not worth the calories or the extra time spent on the treadmill.

Super excited for Z and Fadi to be managing this branch of CREAM! Can't go wrong with cookies and ice cream! Conveniently located right in the heart of San Mateo, it's a great go-to spot after dinner.

I can see why there is so much hype for this place and a line, but it was ok. I guess for the price you can't go wrong either. Luckily when we went the line wasn't too long, so it was worth the wait. But the ice cream is just ok and the cookies are very sugary. It was just a whole lot of sugar in each bite. Too much for my taste. But the process is neat, you can choose two different cookies or two of the same cookies, then choose your ice cream flavor and a topping. Fun way to get ice cream sandwiches

CREAM. I don't know about anybody else but I don't like waiting in line...haha I suggest going between 2-5pm, but even then the parking is crazy. So the best tip I can give you guys is to go with someone else, get dropped off buy and get picked up...haha That's what I did. Now to the review... I really like this place, who doesn't love some Ice Cream and Two Big Cookies to smoosh it together? I love the new location! Less of a drive to Berkley and every time I go, there aren't any lines! The longest I've waited here was probably 15 minutes compared to 45 minutes at Berkley. The staff has always been nice and no complaints so far. Check in for a free cookie!

The concept is nothing original. 1 scoop of ice cream in between 2 cookies but darn it, its delicious! There isn't anything fancy about the cookies or the ice cream in my opinion. Standard flavors of ice cream and yummy cookies. But its affordable, open late and a perfect treat after dinner!

Never been here before and I don't know if I'd come back to this location because of the attitude and poor service the cashier gave us. They give a discount if you use cash but she already looked annoyed having to get change for my $20. We had checked in on yelp to get the free cookie offer prior and showed her the coupon and she made me click on the buttons to use it now and that it was used and then asked if I had checked in. Uh, of course I checked in, that's how I got the coupon to show up on my phone. This entire time she's giving us an attitude and we said it's ok just forget it. It would've been nice if she would've just offered it anyways. Anyways, the cookies and ice cream were good. Cookies were fresh and warm. Ice cream was good. I've been to Diddy Riese by UCLA and still would prefer that over the cream. But this is the closest it'll good being in the Bay Area.

I first tried CREAM at the location in Berkeley and had high expectations when I came to the San Mateo location with my friend today. The staff was friendly, but I was disappointed with my ice cream sandwich. What I loved about CREAM in Berkeley was that the cookies were soft and warm and went perfectly with the ice cream. The cookies here were crunchy and room temperature and I did not like it. + it costs $.50 more here, it's easier in Berkeley where it's $2 so you don't have to worry about coins. I think I will stick with the CREAM in Berkeley.

Just like other CREAM's this place was pretty good. The service was great-- so friendly and cheerful. I was originally going to order the same thing except with soy blueberry ice cream, but they did not have it that night. Instead, I ordered the vegan chocolate chip cookie with walnuts with green tea ice cream and graham cracker crust as my topping. Surprisingly it was very yummy! In my experience, vegan cookies have a strange texture and after taste. This cookie however had a different texture, but not so different that I would have immediately known it was vegas - which I liked! The green tea ice cream and graham cracker combo was also really good. I would recommend this cookie/ice cream/topping combo for those adventurous cookie monsters ;)

The first cookie ice cream sandwich I had there was amazing! I had the white chocolate macadamia nut cookie with royal caramel swirl. It was the best ice cream sandwich I had ever had! However, I came back another time and it was not as good. I figured it out though that the difference is whether you get the cookies fresh out of the oven when soft, chewy and warm versus ones that have been sitting out and have hardened. It is only amazing when fresh out of the oven. The second time I went the cookies were hardened and therefore, sandwich went from AMAZING to 'okay'. Still like this place, but recommend getting the cookies that are right out of the oven for ice cream cookie deliciousness! :)

My wife has been dying the go to this place. We actually drove by the one in Berkeley and in San Francisco. There was literately a line around the corner for each one. We finally got to check out one in San Mateo after the 49er's beat the Chargers in a great preseason game!! I do love the Wu-Tang's reference C.R.E.A.M but they use cookie instead of cash [cookies] rule everything around me. A sly way of showing love for the old school rap. Let me tell you the cookie was amazing. My wife finished hers before we got back to the car and was sneakingly looking to jack some of mine. The mix of different cookies (which they warm up) and the ice cream would make It's-it ice cream cookies cry in shame. They have gluten free and vegetarian cookies and I was impressed with the many ice cream flavors also. Party on C.R.E.A.M, get the money dolla dolla bills' yau'll.

What's up with all the haters!? This is hands down the best dessert on earth. The hype is well-deserved. And it's super cheap! What, like, $2? It's insane. Where on earth can you get 2 cookies, and a mega scoop of ice cream for that cheap? It really doesn't get better than CREAM. It's amazing, and delicious. Well, I guess if you don't like cookies and ice cream then you might not like it... But if that's you, then you're not human. Anyway, super happy that CREAM is expanding! Can't wait for them to come to Seattle area!

After an amazing meal at Ramen Dojo, we decided to check out Cream! It has gotten quite a bit of buzz and I'm a sucker for ice cream! I love the concept, homemade ice cream sandwiches! Beautiful idea, but sadly the execution did not match the brilliant business plan. The ice cream was not very good, it lacked richness and flavor, the cookies are dry and also flavorless. I'm also a sucker fir a great chocolate sauce, and Creams was no better than a can of Hershey and it was way too sweet.... I won't go back... But I did answer my curiosity about the place!!

We made one attempt before this to try CREAM in Palo Alto. The line was way too long. We were glad to see that the line at this location wasn't that bad. We ordered one to share. I believe it was choco chip and snickerdoodle with the cinnamon ice cream. It was tasty, but a little cumbersome to eat. I think I enjoyed the ice cream sandwich at Treatbot better.

  • Howard H.

Diet be damned. So good it made me go back for seconds minutes after finishing my first one. I can't imagine any cookie ice cream combo being bad. Long like that went really quick. Had something similar several years ago near UCLA. Can't remember the name. Guess I didn't used to enjoy ice cream as much before.

Not sure what's all the hype on this place. The ice cream is def not as good and not as creamy as Mitchells. Maybe the whole ice cream sandwich is what makes this place good. Ice cream to me tasted like regular dryers.

Oh CREAM....I wish I knew you sooner! This place is sooo addicting. Cookie + Ice cream = WIN! I'm a sucker for peanut butter so my first time was a snicker doodle with peanut butter twist which was beaten by a turtle with peanut butter twist the next time I went. This is a must stop place for anyone dining around the downtown San Mateo area.

3 1/2* Cream aka Creamnation Fantastic ice cream parlor specializing in ice cream sandwiches You get to choose your favorite type of cookie; I liked the double fudge Several choices of ice cream; the chocolate is very good; the pistachio was okay Efficient counter service Have gluten free cup cakes and cookies Good value for delicious desserts

White chunky macadamia cookie with strawberry ice cream! So good! Thank you for opening this spot nearby, it gets tiring driving all the way to Palo Alto aha. (: Also! Bring cash! You get a discount.

Love CREAM!!! Cookies are always fresh and warm and the ice cream is delish! Plus you can bring the whole family without breaking the bank. My favorite cookie is simply the chocolate chip. Nothing beats an old fashioned chocolate chip cookie! My favorite combination is the chocolate chip cookie with salted caramel ice cream. Too messy or feeling like sharing? Ask them to cut the ice cream sandwich in half!

  • Alejandra P.

I smelled fresh baked cookies from a mile away. Following the scent, I was brought into CREAM! Having heard so many good things about this place, I decided to order something on the menu. I ordered snickerdoodle cookies with salted caramel ice cream. I could smell the sugar from feet away and finally built up the nerve to take a bite of the sugary goodness. "SUGARY" goodness was the perfect word to describe what I had, because the sandwich was extremely sweet!! I ended up taking only 1-2 bites of the cookie and licking the ice cream clean off the cookie. If you have a sweet tooth, this is definitely the place for you! This place just didn't cater to my palate. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? I'll try again another day.

I waited in a line that seemed like it was going to take ETERNITY to see the end of, probably due to the hype for this spot's recent opening. My Berkeley friends always Instagram their experience and has always enticed me to try it. I came in with low expectations because I've heard through the grapevine not to set any standards, but I have to say that I was pretty happy! Nitty Gritty: I went with the Cup of Joe sandwiched between a double chocolate & white chocolate macadamia cookie. First bite was...mmm. Can't beat blissful silence for less than $5 a pop. I craved that exact combination the entire time I was in town visiting my lady. Sad I didn't get my fix, so I'll be checking in soon. The SoCal competitors don't stand a chance against this spot!

  • Thomas C.

I would've given this place 4 stars because the icecream and cookies were noms but a lost star because the poor customer service and attitude received by the cashier. Got the royal caramel swirl between chocolate chip and snickerdoodle which I highly recommend. So they had a yelp checkin deal where if you spend more than $5 and checkin you receive a free cookie. We did just that and the cashier saw both my gf and me checkin on our phones and said they could not honor the deal because "it didn't show up" on her computer. Instead of just giving us a cookie they stared at us like we were crazy and mad at us for "holding up the line." Anyways, I hope no one else has that experience because it was very disappointing and unnecessary. Will definitely try other locations for better results. Cheers, -T-Chung

I've never been addicted to crack but I'm guessing this is the ice cream equivalent. Yes, ice cream crack. I'm blessed (yes, BLESSED) to have an amazingly patient 4 year old. We waited in line for about a half hour and I kept asking her, "Are you sure you want ice cream? We have to wait for a while." My kiddo assured me that she was fine. Well hot damn, this place was worth the wait. Good decision, kiddo! I would've left if she didn't insist on waiting. We had chocolate chip cookies w/ salted caramel ice cream. Yes, so damn good makes you wanna smack y'mama. Then apologize to her and then smack her again because it's just so good! If you have the time and patience, it is worth the wait. One star knocked off just because it is a bit ridiculous to wait for half an hour (but I'm torn because they're not MAKING any of us wait. We just do it.)

  • steph c.

How can you go wrong with ice cream sandwiched between two warm, soft cookies? (you can't) I wouldn't make a trip just for CREAM, but it's a solid (non-Asian) dessert place in downtown San Mateo.

This place has NO frozen yogurt. I wish it did not appear in Yelp searches for frozen yogurt.

I like the layout of this cream compared to the one in Berkeley and Palo Alto. The line is expected if you visited the other cream places. The only differences about this place is they dont give a big scoop of ice cream. Our group couldn't finish the rest of the cookie sandwich because we ran out of ice cream. This never happens at the other cream places. I rather go to the other cream the locations

    (3)
  • Alyx F.

Yayyyyy ice cream sandwiches! I got two chocolate chip cookies with "chocoholic" ice cream in the middle (can you tell I like chocolate?) and it was awesome. The location itself isn't as trendy as some of the other ones, but the quality is still awesome. Always a long line, but it doesn't take too long to get through it. Worth the wait. :)

A few weeks ago, I was grabbing dinner with a friend in downtown San Mateo and we saw a long line wrap around the block for Cream. We saw the line grow longer and longer even at 8pm, so I bookmarked Cream as a place to try. Went back with my sister last Friday and luckily, the wait was short and our cream sandwich was sweet... but not THAT good. I expected the cookies to be soft and chewy, but I'm sad to report that they were not. The pistachio ice cream also wasn't memorable at all. Everything was just very average. Needless to say, probably not worth revisiting.

  • Janne Y.

Well if I could I would give it 3.5 stars but I can't do 4 it is. It's nut to bad. The hype off cream did not live up to its stagnated for me hence a star missing. The cookies were really hard. I guess in a way they should since your putting I've cream in the middle but I felt like it could of been softer.. at least it's made in house.. I've cream was good. Ice cream was good. Services was good. I'll probably come back, with my crazy dessert loving sister. For ice cream though.. not so much the cookie....

    (4)
  • Linda N.

Cute store front. Long lines. Great location. Affordable. What makes an ice cream sandwich a good one is the cookie. The cookies were fresh-- the perfect base (not too soft, not too hard) for a huge scoop of ice cream. If I'm in the neighborhood, I'd come back...for their cookies.

Very happy CREAM opened up here in San Mateo, makes it easier for me to get there. But one problem about the location is that Tpumps ( also a well known business ) is right next to CREAM which creates a big commotion of people in such little space. What's WORSE about that is that the line of tpumps and CREAM intersect (cream line goes to tpumps and tpumps line goes to cream). The two lines basically take up the sidewalk making it very difficult for people to pass through. Another thing is that CREAM just opened so for a couple weeks so this is what you'll be expecting if you visit. Parking is also a big problem because it's such a narrow street that there are only so many parking spaces available in some time. But overall the experience was very pleasing, you walk into the store inhaling the sweet smell of fresh cookies. Also the lady greeting people was very friendly and polite so that deserves a star. Now for the taste review...I'd give it a 4/5 stars. I ordered a snickerdoodle cookie with vanilla ice cream and that was probably the best ice cream sammich i've ever had in a while. For all you boba fans, if you're craving something sweeter, top it off with a boba drink from tpumps... Not the best in location but the ice cream sandwiches are a must, good job CREAM.

YEah okay, I thought this place maybe was just a hype but this place is actually really good. I gotta admit its such a great idea too. A whole place for ice cream sandwiches and they are soo delicious too with soooo many flavors too choose from . Carnival is a great one. green mint chocolate chip is really good too. mmm so many toppings to choose from too.

its really just cookies and ice - cream. the cookies weren't soft but really hard. the ice cream was good tho. it's not bad for it's price just not sure if it's worth waiting in such a long line. customer service was good though. they played some old jamz and the employees were just servin and havin a good time. found them very entertaining - at least since i was waiting in line forever i had something to watch.

Great for a snack after the movies. It's nice they're open late, even on weeknights. Lots of variety of ice cream and cookies. I usually get salted caramel ice cream with peanut butter and double chocolate chip cookies, but I've been meaning to try other flavors.

  • Nancy J.

THe cookies were bomb!!!! The ice cream was good but not the best in the world but I'm picky when it comes to ice cream lol. I'd probably just make my own next time but I think it's worth trying!

First time I've been to CREAM. I went on a Saturday afternoon, there was no line, and the facility was clean. The person helping me was extremely nice. (There was also like 3 people handling orders so probably why there wasn't a line!) My ice cream sandwich was so tasty (I got green tea ice cream with warm butter sugar cookies) If I'm ever in the area again I'll probably go back! :)

A new CREAM location recently opened up in downtown San Mateo. You can make your own ice cream sandwiches here. You pick the cookies, ice cream, and toppings. The ice cream sandwiches are cheap and you can save a few more cents if you pay with cash versus card. Selection of cookies and ice cream was okay.

    (3)
  • Tiger S.

The cookies are main thing here. Parts of my cookie was chewy while another part hard. I didn't mind it as much because I had green tea ice cream in between them. It gave it texture. I've only tried the green tea ice cream and it's nothing special. It's good, but it doesn't have the same "we made it ourselves" quality as the cookies. The ice cream sandwich combination is a classic. Not as heavy as donuts and ice cream. I want to say I'll come back again, but I like ice cream more than cookies and there's better ice cream places. I won't dock points for the ice cream though since they are about their cookies. The ice cream is a nice bonus to what they have.

  • eric k.

Cool idea, good quality, reasonable price, friendly service, and open late. Hard to argue with that recipe, especially when it's for ice cream sandwiches! Cappuccino cookies with coconut ice cream? Yes please! Chocolate chip cookies with mint chocolate chip ice cream? Duh! Too many choices, but I can't imagine going wrong...

I was so happy Cream opened up near my house in San Mateo a while back. I ordered a sandwich with oatmeal cookies and salted caramel ice cream and they were great. Kids loved it also, but then again when do kids not like ice cream. I've now been to Cream about 8 times and most likely I will not be going back. What has happened??? The cookies are always rock hard now, I can't even bite through them. I think they are made out of Kryptonite or reinforced with chicken wire and cement. Also the cookie, Oatmeal cookie, is more sugar than cookie. Way too sweet for any human being. Cookies actually suck big time, I've tried many different ones to back up that statement. The cookies are probably only good for as ninja stars or discs for target shooting. The ice cream is so so. My daughter doesn't even want ice cream from Cream anymore and that's incredible. Even she knows good and bad. Even though the sandwiches are relatively cheap I would rather spend more and go to Baskin Robbins or Cold Stone, my daughter at least never complains at those two places. Back to the drawing board Cream. You will only last so long in Downtown San Mateo with those high rents trying to sell a bad product at $3 a piece.

This review is about the poor service we received on the evening of 4/4/15. We ordered for Banana Walnut Chocolate Chip Cookie ( Vegan). The lady who took our initial order was nice and considerate. She asked us if we had other allergies and said it would take a few minutes while she got them ready. Going perfect until here.. Then we reached the billing station. My wife told the lady at billing that we had got a Vegan Cookie, to which we got a one word reply "WHAAAT???" . After we clarified, she told us that she did not know about any Vegan Cookie option. We asked her to check with the lady who took our order. To our shock, the lady said "Why don't you ask her yourself what you have ordered" . If this is how you treat your customers, we don't want to be one.

I grew up eating Big Ed & It's It so I have a high expectation of this place, especially using a fresh baked cookie. Yes there is a long line but inside on the counter, there is a like 3 to 4 people making your orders so it moves pretty quick. (All they do is scoop up the ice cream and slap it between 2 cookies of your choice) There is a guy who has a bucket full of cookie bags however all of the bags are open wide and fluffy like he ran it thru some kind of a dryers lol. My guess it makes it easier to stuff the cookie sandwich into it?? Anyways I had the chocolate chip with Vanilla ice cream and it was delicious and cost just $2.50! However I felt really thirsty after, thanks god Tpump is just a store away =) but the long line Yikes!

FINALLY was able to try this place out once they opened a location in San Mateo. Large servings and inexpensive! The cookies are FRESH and with the ice cream it makes it that much more delicious. The selection is great, not too few and not overwhelming. Another great dessert option if you're in the area.

  • MzzzK C.

I went here after a great meal to get dessert, and it filled me up. This is my second time I went here, and the cookies with the ice cream are so soft. The one cookie I tried that got hard was the double chocolate Chip cookie. The macadamia nut cookie and chocolate chip cookie are my favorite with mint chip ice cream to go in the middle. The cookies stay soft and it's a cheap dessert for $2.50.

I refuse to spend money on ice cream. Working at an ice cream store myself, I get ice cream pretty much for free, and I figured, why don't I just bring my own cookies to work and make my own "CREAM"? Anyways, that's besides the point. After being convinced by friends, I finally decided to give this place a try and see if it was really as good as everyone says it is. We went on a Thursday night around 10pm and the line was out the door. I ordered a butter sugar and carnival (m&m) cookie with salted caramel ice cream. The cookies were soft and delicious, but my salted caramel ice cream tasted like plain vanilla. It was also the fastest I've ever had to finish ice cream because it was melting, fast. But what I was most surprised about was the price. It was only $2.99! I'm glad I gave this place a chance and I'll definitely be back for the cookies and to try other flavors of ice cream.

  • Jaida V.

CREAM never fails to disappoint me! The line was long, but it moves very quickly. All of the servers were friendly and looked happy to be there. Plus, its super cheap and delicious! I could go here all the time!

  • Dalia K.

I don't know what these 3 star and below reviewers are expecting. It's a ice cream cookie sandwich! Do they expect to be able to fly after eating it or something? The cookies are delicious and the ice cream is great. Put them both together and you get one yummy sweet treat. All those downer reviewers should go to Disneyland for the magical experience they are seeking.

  • Henry L.

Its good, but overrated... Reasonably priced, I'd go back, but nothing truly special. Bake your own cookies and put ice cream on it, its the same thing. But for the lazy man, this place works! $2.50 for cash discount!

Cream either takes the de-/reconstructed Oreo cookie concept to its ultimate conclusion or it's a retail reincarnation of the venerable It's-it San Francisco institution. Either way, it's an ice cream sammie spectacle to behold. Upon seeing the 10-variety, fresh-baked cookies and 19 gourmet-ish ice cream flavors I suddenly realized that I might have nearly stumbled (watch the weird step up) into a personal temple where I would wantonly worship. Nah, it's actually modern and recently renovated-clean but the wait of several minutes in line assured that I won't be just dropping by. Now people, I did say *fresh* baked cookies as in "Don't let the oven doors hit the workers in the face" fresh and fancying myself the original cookie monster in a bit of a rut, there was a reasonable chance my head was going to spontaneously combust upon first bite. Nope. Not even much of a spark / whisp of smoke. I'm stumped. Too many flavors causing overload? Just an assortment of mostly weak ones? Further research will be conducted of course, especially given the amazing price of under 3 bucks. Yep, that low tab was the figurative cherry on top putting the 4th star on top of this review.

  • Sarita d.

I really enjoy the fresh cookies. The ice cream is fine too but combined with a warm cookie. It's a great treat. For 2.50 you can't beat this deal. Employees are very friendly and helpful Sadly the lines are always long and I'd wish they limit how many samples people can try. Just spent ten minutes behind a family of six who tried every flavor only to buy one cookie ice cream.

Nothing exceptional .. don't understand whats the hype for? I tried Snickerdoodle with strawberry icecream !! It was good. Just like how a regular icecream sandwich would taste. Eat fast or the icecream will melt in the warm cookie !

  • Sheila G.

Yum!!! Ordered a chocolate chip cookie sandwich with french vanilla ice cream and crunchy marshmallows. It was DELICIOUS! My only (minor) complaint is that the person making it got chocolate all over the wrapper and then handed it to me. But when you're handling delicious gooey chocolate chip cookies all day, can't really blame him!

  • Joanna F.

I was SUPER excited to try this place, especially after seeing the line out the door. I thought it was good and the concept is amazing, but it's maybe just a little overrated. Both the ice cream and cookies tasted store-bought, and there was nothing really exceptional about them. They do let you order a half sandwich though, and the prices are totally reasonable. Good, with the potential of being great.

Yum! Came here on a Sunday around 1:00 pm and didn't have to wait at all. They have a large variety of cookie and ice cream flavors. I definitely want to try the soy ice cream next time (they have mint-chip and vanilla). We ordered an ice cream sandwich with snickerdoodle cookies and matcha green tea ice cream. The combination totally works! The cookies are super fresh and come out warm and crispy. I bake frequently, and I think the snickerdoodles can definitely rival a homemade cookie. Portions are of a decent size- one sandwich was big enough for my boyfriend and I to share. It can get a bit messy, so I recommend grabbing a spoon/napkins. I'm not sure that Cream was so amazing that I would go out of my way/wait in a long line for it, but I will return if I'm in the area.

Pretty tasty. Great price, and selection of 'cream'. Long line, but relatively quick moving. I did get the impression that the employees here were not having fun, but if its always busy with a line down the street i understand.

This is the first CREAM location I've ever been to and the line was fast and they gave me friendly service to top it off! Started off with a simple sugar cookie sandwiching chocolate mint and it was warm and soft just how i like it! This place is starting to make me into a ice cream sandwich addict! Will definitely return for other combinations!

Can't say no to ice cream! This place is always packed at night, especially around 9-10pm. It's easy to see why--the ice cream here is fresh and delicious! The wait staff are all super friendly, and go out of their way to ask you about your day and say hi, or offer you free samples. The inside is always kept super clean, and the bright lighting makes the place feel very open and glorious. I got the strawberry cheesecake ice cream, which had bits of strawberry chunks in it. You can also taste the smooth cheesecake with every scoop. Definitely worth making a stop every once in a while!

Such a fun and tasty ice cream place! It's like a make-your-own Its It Ice cream sandwich. Except you can choose your own flavor of cookies and ice cream. I like to get two kinds of cookies - one for the top and another for the bottom. This time I got chocolate chip and double chocolate chip cookies with strawberry cheesecake ice cream. I also got a free cookie with the yelp deal (if you spent more than $5 you get a free cookie!) There is a small line, but if you go on off hours the line goes pretty quickly and the service is great. I haven't tried anything other than the cookie sandwich, but this is definitely worth a shot! Try it for dessert after dinner in downtown San Mateo!

Having grown up with the Bay Area's beloved IT'S-IT, I was thrilled to find ice-cream sandwiches in San Mateo. What Cream produces I'd like to call The Naked IT'S-IT as its lacking a chocolate shell. The hubs and I visited this Cream outpost around 18.30 on a weekday and the place was quiet save for a family enjoying a few treats. The service was cordial and prompt and the young man behind the counter patiently answered all my questions. Not in the mood for my ice-cream to be sandwiched between two cookies, I ordered a long-standing fave, pumpkin ice-cream in a cup. A flavor usually only seen during autumn, I was keen to savor some out-of-season pumpkin goodness. The first few bites were reminiscent of pumpkin pie. After that the flavor of spiced pumpkin became lost in the cream. It just sort of tasted like 'frozen treat', if that makes sense. Undaunted, I'll be back to Cream for a cup of Rocky Road at some point in future. **Cream caters!

Yum!! I love that they keep their cookies nice and warm. We have CREAM that opened in SD but I have yet to try. My friend wanted dessert and we decided to come here before dinner. I got the snicker doodle cookies with salted caramel ice cream. It was good! We also got a regular white chocolate macadamia cookie for checking in. It was nice warm and thin. The ice cream was good too. I hate it when the ice cream freezes the cookies! Other then that, great afternoon snack for the sweet tooth.

So hard to say NO!! Warm cookies are the way to go and squashed with good ice cream! Ok, I thought there were better places like this but these cookie sandwiches can't compare! They are still the best! Especially, for the price! Feels like the cookies are bigger or the ice cream got reduced but still worth it for $2.99. Many of the Cream locations are always packing a line! This location is the same...only street parking and in a popular area. Well worth the drive here though! ;-)

It was a hot day, what can I say? I happened to be nearby a cream, ah what the heck, why not?????? There were so many choices... i could only get one... wtf was i going to get?!?!?!? They have cookies and cream, rocky road, strawberry, chocolate, coconut, salted caramel.... etc... etc.... Their cookie choices felt Neverending too.... white choco macadamia nut, choco chip, sugar, snickerdoodle, etc etc... I ended up with two white choco macadamia and very berry strawberry. Towards the end, it was way too sweet for me. $2.99 for a cookie sandwich and extra for toppings. I should have gotten just the ice cream, I could do without a cookie. But the cookie is soft and chewy and yummy. Their prices are pretty reasonable, it's not that expensive and their ice cream is legit! I would go back! I've been to the one in the Mission. Oh yea, if you check in and spend more than $5, u get a free cookie! Hell yes to free stuff!!!!

This is a legit Vegan Ice Cream Sandwich! bit.ly/1M6lYd3 It's also a major commitment. The size is quite large so unless you plan to share this with somebody, go in with a big appetite. Of course I didn't know this when I suggested we go here post-dinner. But I was already here. Do I get the Vegan Ice Cream Sandwich that I've been so curious about? Do I pass it up and just get a small scoop? Oh the inner struggle. #firstworldproblems I made the commitment with the Soy Mint and Chip ice cream and Vegan Tuxedo Cookies. I loved that the ice cream had large chunks of chocolate and wasn't tinted with fake green dye. (Quick side tangent: does anyone use fake green dye in their mint and chip ice cream anymore? I must be thinking of my childhood days at Thrifty's Ice Cream. Yes, I'm that old.) The Vegan Tuxedo Cookies were made of chocolaty cookie dough with black & white chocolate chips. It was soft and chewy and the perfect vehicle for sandwiching the ice cream. To top it off, I had crushed peanuts. Treat yo self! After three or four delicious bites, I quickly realized what I got myself into. I grabbed a spoon, ate the rest of ice cream, then saved the slightly eaten cookies for later. Everything in moderation, right? Even with calories! (Another side tangent: I just remembered I left those cookies in my Auntie's refrigerator in NorCal and I'm now back home in SoCal. Dang it! I guess that saves me from the extra calories.) My sister got a small scoop of the Peanut Butter Swirl. She said it was good. As far as service was concerned, I was pretty indifferent. They all seem young. High school or college age. The cashier seemed like she hated her job but the gal that scooped our ice cream was pretty nice. Also, they seem to love their reggae music here. I'm a fan for sure! Cream has slowly been expanding to SoCal so I'm pretty sure I'll have many more experiences with this business. BTW, there's a Yelp Check-In deal going on right now. Free cookie w/$5 or more purchase.

Love the ice cream sandwiches here! They are very cheap (like 3 bucks) and they use warm, fresh-baked, cookies too. Years ago when I lived by UCLA, I'd go to Diddy Riese and get a similar cheap but tasty ice cream sandwich. So, having one within walking distance allows me to experience some fattening nostalgia. The location here in San Mateo is very crowded but the lines move fast; inside, there are only like 4 bar seats and they are in the middle of the store so it's not relaxing at all. This is somewhat understandable but be prepared to grab your ice cream and go outside.

This CREAM takes their time heating up their cookies, so its a lot softer than the other CREAM places. Their ice cream sandwich is $2.99 including tax. You get to pick two cookies, and any kind of ice cream that you like. My recommended cookies are: * Double Chocolate Chip * Turtle My recommended ice creams are: * Salted Caramel * Strawberry/ Blueberry Cheesecake * Mint Chocolate Chip * Cup of Joe * Green Tea Cheers!

While it's not the best ice cream cookie sandwich I've ever had, (currently winning is Jacques Torres' in NYC) this is definitely going to be one of my favorite dessert places. Open until midnight, CREAM is probably one of the best options for dessert or a late night snack. The smell of the freshly baked cookies alone is worth a quick pop-in. The best part about CREAM is the price, only $2.99 for a create-your-own ice cream sandwich. It's also probably the best deal on the menu, since you get two cookies and a scoop of ice cream for the one low-price. Also, if you check-in, you can get a free cookie with a $5 purchase!

We don't have this in Canada and I sincerely wish we did. Just because we live in cold weather 40% of the year, doesn't mean we don't enjoy our ice cream! There's a plethora of cookie flavours and ice cream flavours to choose from. The combinations are endless! When our relatives took us here, we could smell the scent of cookies as we walked up to the store. They heat up their cookies and give you a large serving of ice cream for their sandwiches. I wish I could go here all the time. Please expand to Toronto! :(

COOKIES RULE EVERYTHING AROUND ME ... although I wish Cash Ruled Everything Around Me. I love cookies and I love ice cream, so combining the both in a sandwich is possibly one of the best inventions ever. If only I thought of it first... Okay, but really, CREAM has a wide selection of cookies and ice cream flavors. The combos of cookies and ice cream are long. You can mix or match the two cookies too, so even more variety! $2.99 for a sandwich. The first few bites are very rewarding, but halfway, it starts to get very sweet, where all I taste is just cold sugary madness. I guess that could be a good or bad thing, depending on how much you love desserts. It get's messy too, but then again, eating a good sandwich of any kind is rarely a clean task. CREAM is definitely one of the several sweet spots in downtown san mateo to try when you've finished a nutritious meal. Because there is always room for dessert. Always.

Maybe it was the heat? I expect someone who works at an ice cream shop to be bubbly, friendly and greets me with a smile. Nope! None of that! Both ladies making the ice cream sandwiches appeared annoyed, especially when I asked to get a sample of one of the ice creams. I didn't want to deal with their pissy attitude so I just ordered my usual and left.

Affordable ice cream sandwiches. Cool that they have vegan options too. I first discovered the CREAM shop in Berkeley and thought the name was pretty great, but didn't consider going in. I'm not exactly a fan, but not because I'm not really a dessert person (I say ~3.5 stars). I prefer salty to sweets but everyone seemed to be raving about CREAM, so I gave it a shot. Pretty yummy (as dessert food goes!), but I felt it was too sweet for me. Big portion for the full sandwich, which was kinda hard to finish. That's just me though and my salt-favoring taste buds. Overall, it was nothing extraordinary. Just a nice, simple ice cream and cookie sandwich. I RARELY ever choose to get dessert, but if I do feel inclined to one day, I think I'll opt for cookies and ice cream to be separate. Or a half sandwich. Great place to stop by for a quick sweet fix. Small seating area, clean environment. Service is fast, but sometimes there's a long line.

In my opinion, I didn't really like this place. I gave this place another shot, since my last experience here wasn't all that great but it turned out to be the same. I came here around 3pm, and they were baking fresh cookies. I was very excited, since I knew the cookies were going to be fresh from the oven. Not many people were there, so I was able to order my ice cream sandwich fast. I ordered their ice cream sandwich: 2 snicker doodle cookies with salted caramel ice cream. When I took a bite of the ice cream sandwich, the cookie was really hard. I thought it would be soft and brittle since I saw them taking it out from the oven. The only good part was their ice cream. It was creamy and sweet, very good. Other than that, I wouldn't recommend getting their cookies. I don't think I'll be coming back here for their ice cream sandwiches, I'll probably just order their ice cream and that's it. I'll get my cookies elsewhere, since I gave them another chance. Just my opinion.

Love this place. Our first time here and it was delicious. They had several options including ice cream tacos, cones, shakes and handcrafted ice cream sandwiches. The ice cream sandwiches start with your choice of big warm cookies, next is the ice cream and finally the topping. We all had the cream sandwiches and they were delicious. Staff was fast, friendly and very helpful.

I scream for CREAM! A trip to Downtown San Mateo would not be complete without stopping by CREAM. My go to combination is strawberry ice cream sandwiched between two Carnival cookies (M&M cookies). I pair a "lighter" ice cream with the cookies since it can get very chocolatel-y with the M&Ms. I don't mind so much since I love chocolate! Cream is always a treat. They have a wide variety of flavors and cookies so the pairings are endless! And you can have to different cookies. Cream always hits the spot! Their portion sizes are pretty big so you can get really full especially if you go here for dessert after a big meal, so plan accordingly! #icecreamadventures

Wu Tang Clan ain't nothin to... Oops! Cookies Rule Everything Around Me! C.R.E.A.M! Get the cookies! For dolla, dolla, bills ya'll! After having a great birthday dinner for my cousin, a couple of us wanted some dessert. CREAM was a couple blocks down from where we were and trekked towards that way. When we got the storefront, to our surprise there was no line at all! Usually, I hear of lines going out the door. The benefits of a rainy evening has its perks! Since there was no line, I had to use my speed reading skills to browse through the menu quickly! My craving for ice cream was very strong! My eyes were laser focused on two items to make my favorite ice cream cookie sandwich. Peanut butter and chocolate chip ice cream paired with macadamia nut and white chocolate cookie. Once I saw this on the menu, I was sold! The cookie ice cream sandwich was assembled in a couple minutes. The staff had the ordering process locked down. As for the ice cream sandwich, it was very enjoyable. The cookies were warm and soft. No dryness in the cookie was present. The ice cream was creamy and had a nice mix of chocolate and peanut butter. Hip hop and ice cream cookie sandwiches are a good mix! Hip hop for the beats and the ice cream cookies for the sweets... SON!

So as you can see, I just came out of cream, I order two ice cream sandwiches. As usual they alway give you paper bags with your ice cream sandwiches, but I ask them for a cup, because the ice cream sandwiches could get pretty messy. And they literally charge me $1.50 for the cup??? I mean I don't mind paying, but $1.50? You must be joking to charge the customer $1.50 for a cup.

Pros: -Seasonal flavors like pumpkin and eggnog. -Ice-cream is pretty good. -Check-in on Yelp and get a free cookie with a $5 or more purchase. -Water station at the sitting tables. Good choice considering the cookies and ice-cream made me really thirsty. -They offer gluten-free and vegan cookies. Cons: -Cookies are consistently over-baked, cold, and hard. Honestly think they're as hard as rocks. Disappointing. This is the main reason why I don't like CREAM. They specialize in the concept of "cookie sandwiches", but they don't even offer high quality premium freshly baked cookies. I don't understand why the cookies are always so hard and cold. They just mass produce the cookies like it's nothing. As a frequent baker, it is easy to overbake, but overbaking leads to an inedible taste. -Also not much flavors to chose from. -$2.50 for cookie sandwich ($2.99 with card). Most yelpers say it's inexpensive, but I think it's pricey considering the cookies aren't even good and you can easily make this at home. -Limited seating area. Only 4 chairs when there's 20 people in line. Most people have to stand to eat. Hmmm. -Ice-cream can be too sweet. Also wish there were more flavors to chose from! TIP: If you have a minor ant problem in your house (AKA a few ants when it's raining), DON'T leave a bag of CREAM cookies on the table anywhere! I left the bag on the counter overnight, and it was SWARMING with tons of ANTS ALL OVER the next day. Threw the cookie away and spent the entire morning cleaning. Sigh. CREAM and and I are just not meant to be.

He and I got an early lunch a few months back at Joy. I was craving CREAM and figured the line wouldn't be that long since it was a little after 12. No line at all! Same formula, same flavors as the original in Berkeley and the one in Palo Alto. I like the space here more though. I think I ordered the right cookie and ice cream combo this time around as well, because I was feeling it more this time. Though I love chocolate, I feel like with anything chocolate (I.e. Choc chips or m&ms) gets way too messy and sweet when they heat the cookie up. We shared a snickerdoodle cookies and cream ice cream sandwich. They gladly cut it in half for us. This combo was great. The cookies and cream could have been a teeny bit more flavorful but I liked how well both flavors balanced well. Someday I hope to split the ice cream taco. I can't eat a whole big ice cream sammie here myself as the portions are big, but it's definitely a great value.

May 31, 2015 3.5 stars I ordered a ice cream sandwich with coconut ice cream between a turtle and double chocolate cookie. ***Food*** ~Ice cream sandwich(turtle, double chocolate, coconut ice cream) Both cookies (turtle and double chocolate was overwhelmingly sweet and the coconut ice cream gets lost. The ice cream was nice and creamy, but a little lacking in coconut flavor. ***Greeter, staff, wait*** The people greeting you, are the same people serving you. They were nice and accommodated me by allowing me to have a few samples because I was indecisive with my ice cream choice. There was no wait when I arrived, but a group of 4-5 people did arrive after me, and I was still deciding of flavor choices when they left. ***Ambiance*** Open, bright and airy. When I was there, only a couple of people was eating at the counter top seating. ***Parking*** NOT INCLUDED IN RATING Parking was fairly easy. I parked on the streets, but there are a couple of parking lots in the area, all within walking distance.

If your looking for something sweet& delicious CREAM is the place to come to! A scoop of ice cream between two warm cookies all flavors of your choice, sooo yum! The flavors are rich and delicious so if your not a huge sweet fan you might want to share with someone. The prices for these handcrafted goodies aren't bad at all and everything is delicious. We don't have a CREAM where I live which breaks my heart, but I'm kinda glad we don't cause my hips can't afford indulging that often in something so amazing. This specific store is very cute& spacious inside. The guy who helped us was very nice although the girl who rang us up was a little short tempered. It's okay, she probably had a long day. Nonetheless CREAM was everything I thought I'd be and more. Be sure to check them out if you find yourself by one. And if your on yelp check in for a free cookie!

CREAM (Cookies Rule Everything Around Me) is delish! My BFF, Heather Marie, enlightened me to this establishment. Fresh, warm baked cookies AND tasty ice cream? Available in sandwich form? Oodles of CYO (Create Your Own) options!? Yes, please! The staff are pretty chill, prices are very reasonable, and the whole process didn't take too long. If you have the opportunity, try CREAM.

Came here on a sunny hot day and thought ice cream would be perfect. The sandwiches are not expensive at all and they end up giving you a huge portion of ice cream. Only problem is that when you take to long to eat it, the cookie does start to harden. I didn't really care for the cookie all the much but the ice cream was good and there were a variety of flavors!

  • Lisa K.

I was happy to see from reviews that there were vegan options here. However, I was disappointed that there were only two soy ice cream flavors and 4 cookie types, and none of the cookies were of a "plainer" or sugar type (options were oatmeal raisin, snickerdoodle, banana walnut chocolate chip, and 'tuxedo.') But the biggest surprise was that a vegan ice cream sandwich cost twice as much as non-vegan! That will definitely make me think twice about coming back. Otherwise, I was pleased they were open late and give a lot of credit for how cute the concept is. I thought the non-vegan cookies were harder/buttery-er than I would have like, perhaps so they can stand up to the ice cream.

Cookies rule everything around me too, so I ordered a double chocolate cookie with butter pecan ice cream. The cookie was fresh and chocolatey, the ice cream was ok, it wasn't the usual butter pecan I was used to,less rich no buttery flavor. Overall good experience and nice place to stop by when drinking in downtown San Mateo, love that they're open till 1am.

Shucks. I'm not the biggest fan of cookies, but C.R.E.A.M. brought me just a bit closer to the dark side. Their cookies seriously are the right amount of crisp with the balance of softness, and the subtle warmth from the oven really brings it all together. "It" being the ice cream sandwich. Sorry, the ice cream is always the center of attention, literally. So good. So indulgent.

While strolling San Mateo, my family and I got so excited when we saw this place and nearly ran towards it like little school girls. Great prices and quick service. I got the blueberry cheesecake ice cream sandwiches between a double chocolate chip cookie and a white chocolate chip macadamia cookie. Zomg you know I was enjoying it in the corner like there was no tomorrow - only to notice a couple a few yards away being entertained with my intimate interaction to this ice cream sandwich. Hehe.. Just a tip, if you pay with Pay Pal, you do get $5 discounted off and they do have vegan and gluten free options holla!

The hype is real, folks. The first time I tried it, my group of friends were pretty buzzed after dinner at Izakaya Mai so that could have been the reason why we were gushing over our ice cream sandwiches. The second time I got it, I just ate a whole bowl of ramen from Himawari and I still ate (almost) an entire ice cream sandwich. So yes, that's my proof that this is awesome. My personal recommendation: Snickerdoodle cookies with banana walnut fudge ice cream. You're welcome. The line is tolerable if it reaches just outside the doors. And seriously, $2.50 for a filling dessert is pretty perfect.

  • Karma B.

A quick disclaimer that I can only rate this place for it's ice cream. Delicious. Not really any other way around it, it's not the best ice cream in the world or anything, but they have some tasty flavors and the single scoops are massive. That or I might've just had the world's most generous person scooping my ice cream. Seriously my single scoop was comparable to some double/triple scoops ate other ice cream eateries. Not only do you get yeti sized ice cream scoops, but it's cheap! Definitely a nice way to end a night after grabbing dinner and walking around downtown SM.

  • Theresa L.

I had the blueberry soy and green tea ice cream. I wanted to try the blueberry cheesecake but they didn't have the flavour that day. The blueberry soy cream was a little bit icy but maybe that's because it was made from soy and there was no cream in it. The green tea was the standard matcha-ish flavour you get from green tea ice cream. The server helping me was so nice. I'm really indecisive when it comes to ice cream flavours because I tend to want to try everything. She was super helpful in getting me samples and also when I asked for her recommendations. She also gave me a HUGE scoop of the blueberry soy (I think the ice cream was pretty difficult to scoop...so she ended up just getting a huge scoop).

When i'm feigning for a classic ice cream cookie sandwich, CREAM does the trick. The snickerdoodle cookie with classic vanilla is AMAAAZING. Simple and delicious. Tip: if you dont want to eat 2 whole cookies and ice cream, ask for half of a cookie, and they cut 1 cookie in half and there you have it! Yay!

    (4)
  • Moana S.

The simplicity of cookie and ice cream combination is on point. You get to choose everything! And it's easy on the wallet. A great place to go to when you're craving a cold treat on a sunny Cali day. I just wish they had a Cream here in Washington. :'(

Such a simple concept, but done right! Who doesn't love soft, warm cookies with delicious ice cream in the middle? You pick your cookies or brownies, pick the ice cream (toppings are available too, but totally unnecessary in my opinion). The cookies were so soft and warm, but still firm enough not to fall apart or too warm to quickly melt the ice cream...seriously, it's perfection! Ohhh, there are vegan & gluten-free options too Lots of great ice cream flavors, as well...not into. Cookie? They offer brownies & waffle tacos to be the vessel to your ice cream delight. Tip: it's cheaper to pay cash, then debit or credit, saving you $.50!

Girl from the counter kept interrupting and getting me things i didn't ask for. I asked for a sample, she asked if i wanted it in a cone or cup .... I asked for a flavor, she repeated back to me another flavor. Maybe she just has a listening problem... but nonetheless, my main problem with her was the fact that she never had a smile on her face the entire time. C'mon, you work in an ice cream shoppe! Got the salted caramel on snicker doodle, it was purely sugar on top of sugar. Never again.

This is like a hit summer blockbuster movie. You hear so much about it, you see the marketing photos and headlines online and they have you thinking, I HAVE to see this. The chatter in your brain makes you think "Stop everything right now and go!!" Well, this sheep finally went to slaughter and I am here to report, with great confidence, it's ok. I enjoyed every bite but there are flaws indeed. First of all, no A/C in the joint. Not too bad for us cause we are in and out to enjoy a refreshing cool treat. The peeps behind the counter, not so much. They are sweating pretty good back there and based on the laws of gravity, that sweat becomes a special secret topping you don't even need to ask for!!! Second, I am one of those guys who refuses to wait on line for something just because others say it's a must. We managed to hit em up when the line was really short, but as is often the case, the moment I got there, the line tripled!! I know, right? I think it's the new gold elite badge that draws the crowds my way. Anywho, I can get down with an It's It next time and be done with it. Is that treat as fresh? Nah. Is it as good? Probably not. I suspect you will get down there, wait in line for an hour, get a sweaty ice cream sandwich and wish you had listened to my advice.

A no frills ice cream place. Pick a standard cookie and your standard ice cream and literally all they do is put it together for you. Nothing amazing tasting - you could get a bucket of Dreyers and a $5 box of cookies at Safeway and make it yourself, but it's the convenience of it that we're paying for, right?

My first time at the San Mateo location. I visited Cream location twice in San Francisco, but I like the setting better at the San Mateo location. It a nice area with lots of restaurants nearby and parking is easier to find and I feel the store itself seems more spacious. There was a short line at the Cream in mid afternoon time on Saturday. I found out in Yelp that if I did a checkin I would get a free cookie! What a deal huh? :-) I never did a "check in" before and couldn't figure it out how to correct my error message, but now I know what I did wrong. But I still got my lemon cookie. Boy it was nice, warm and fresh right out of the oven! If it was a M&M candy I would say it would melt in my mouth and not in my hand. yummy! Anyway I was torn between the seasonal flavors pumpkin and egg nog. I picked the Oatmeal Raisin cookie with the lovely Egg Nog. Great flavor mix with the cookie. I could see the ovens in the back counter baking cookies and see the different flavors of ice cream in front of me and friendly workers ready to serve the customer. They never rush you in trying to decide what flavor to pick which is good. I feel the ice cream cookie tastes better at this location. I will definitely come back again to get my ice cream cookie fix!

I was surprised to find this location completely empty on a sunny Sunday afternoon except for one family eating their ice cream sandwiches inside. Kind of strange for CREAM, which always has a line out the door, but oh well - no wait! I tried the PA location a while back and I remember liking their pistachio ice cream a lot, so I ordered it again with also the same cookies I chose last time. I wasn't feeling very adventurous and thought I was actually playing it safe, but I was so disappointed this time. The pistachio ice cream tasted nothing like how it did in PA - the flavor was so weird with barely any hint of pistachio. I didn't like it and ended up throwing the ice cream away. :( My cookies (double chocolate and snickerdoodle) were okay, but they definitely weren't as soft as before. Meh, at least they're cheap ($2.99) and my parents enjoyed theirs. My mom's butter pecan ice cream was pretty good. I'll probably choose that next time if I decide to come back.

Been a hype reading about ads on Cream so now they have it closeby, we tried it.. Omg i was disappointed.. It's just like safeway cookies and filled with safeway ice cream. For a price, it aint worth it.. i'd rather make my own and add more for my liking

There are some crazy Mom and Dad here that lets their kids run wild. Last time I was here, I was "grinded" by two mad mothers with their twin size baby limousine carts. Why in the world would parents bring in their huge strollers in crowded areas like this? Then, let their kids scream and cry, or run around while they chit-chat on their cell phones? Honestly!! WTF By the time I got to the counter, I was exhausted. Thankfully the nice staff got me in and out, and I was enjoying my chocolate chip cookie dough!!

I so totally agree with Jenny T's review (please read.) I couldn't have said it better. I can't say I agree with anybody else's reviews. Most people must have low expectations which I do not! Artificial tasting ice cream smashed between two nasty tasting cookies and there's a line out the door? are you freak'n kidding me?? no joke- I had a mint chip sandwich that literally tasted so not-like-mint-chip. it had a very fake, disgusting flavor to it. My wifey had salted caramel which tasted nothing like it should (hint: if you have tasted Bi-Rite ice cream you would definitely know.) The cookies were somewhat stale and non-spectacular. you know when you take a bite of a fresh, chocolate chip cookie that just makes you go 'OMG'?? don't expect that from anything here. spare the empty calories, time in your life (if you value your time) and save some $$. Go to Creations Dessert Express next door, you'll have a waaaay better tasting treat!

Is it just me or the older you get, the sweeter dessert taste? The line is a little bit long for just an ice cream sandwich. However, they kept the line moving fast enough that it didn't feel like it was at a dead stop. I ordered the white chocolate macadamia nut with soy vanilla ice cream. It was good, but halfway through, I can almost feel the sugar burning through my enamel so I had to toss it. Can't say I would come here frequently, but once in a while I'll consider it.

Besttttttt ice cream sandwich place I have ever been to so far. Most of the ice cream I tried taste pretty good. I like how they service the cookies still warm so it's perfect when they make the ice cream sandwich. The cookies I tried are chewy not crunchy so it's perfect for me. My favorite is the chocolate chip cookies with mint chocolate chip ice cream. There is always a wait when I past by the place, that's the only down side of it. I would most definitely go to cream if I am in the area and the line is not too long. It's a must try place to me. Love how if you are sharing your ice cream sandwich with someone they would cut it in half for you instead of you taking turns to take a bite out of the awesome dessert. Also it's cheaper when you pay with cash verse credit card.

Simple, sweet, and inexpensive, I like it! I mean a giant scoop of ice cream put in between two fresh baked cookies, who wouldn't like that?! You get to choose what ice cream flavor you want, what kind of cookies you want as a bun for your sandwich, and of course top it off with all kinds of toppings. The lines in San Mateo do get long, however the staff is quick on their feet so it's worth waiting for. I recommend everyone to try what I usually get, butter cream peacan with two white chocolate macadamia nuts cookie. I mean it's $2 for a simple but really good ice cream sandwich. I'd hold dessert at where I'm eating and come here afterwards for dessert.

Great cookies and ice cream. A great selection and it was quick as well. I got the Turtle Cookie (chocolate and peanuts... whole peanuts) and salted caramel ice cream. I loved the warmed up cookies and the icecream was good as well. To the critics: If it's too sweet, you're eating ice cream between two cookies. Enough said. If you can't bite ice cream, man up (or woman up). If the cookie flavor overtakes ice cream flavor, you chose the wrong combination. Try again. They didn't choose that combo for you. Peace out!

It's really hard to find a place that sells deliciously warm cookies at a reasonable price. I find that ice-cream shops usually does the trick especially if they make ice cream sandwiches. $8.99 for a dozen cookies + 1 bonus for a Yelp check-in when you purchase $5+. One cookie is $0.79. I can't beat this. My favorites so far are the snicker-doodle, carnival aka M&M and then chocolate chip. Parking - usually a pain esp during dinner rush Line - depends on the day/time combo Distance from SF - too far :(

How can I resist a sweet treat like CREAM! The combos are endless, and the selection is great. By the recommendation of one of the employees, I tried their salted caramel ice cream with snickerdoodle and white chocolate macadamia nut cookie! It was divine, and I was on cloud nine!

I love ice cream and cookies, but I don't usually like them together. In college, there was a very popular ice cream sandwich place that all the kids liked, and there was always a line out the door, but I wasn't a fan. However, I decided to try one from Cream. Why not? I got one with a white chocolate macadamia cookie and "turtle" cookie, with salted caramel ice cream. I think all of it would have tasted good by themselves, but together, it was kind of a mess. They warmed my turtle cookie but the girl left it in the oven for too long, so it ended up melting my ice cream really fast. Ugh. Also, the salted caramel ice cream didn't taste salty at all. It was still good, but I felt misled. Anyway, I thought the cookies were good, too, but together with the ice cream, it was just OK.

Checked out CREAM. Ordered the salted caramel covered with chocolate chip cookie. So I waited for about 15 minutes for my grown man's phone to update so I can take my picture. After it boots up... I bite into it. The salted caramel with that chocolate chip is a delight. Salty and sweet. And the soundtrack to this establishment. I just heard ELEVATORS, BIG PIMPIN and STRONGER. With music like this, and that salted caramel...it will have me coming back, SON.

Not the greatest cookies or ice cream in the world, but for only $2.50 you can't help but feel like a total winner. The important thing here is I don't feel ripped off. I wouldn't mind paying $5+ for a more "gourmet" experience, but you know what? Sometimes, I like to get down, cheap, and dirty.

Lots of cookies and ice cream flavors to choose from. I saw someone warming up their cookies in front of me so I asked for the same. It didnt make a difference because the cold ice cream warmed the cookie up. I got a whole cookie order with the gluten free choco chip and snickerdoodle with Soy Mint Chip. Too much for me, should've gotten a half order. This combo is just ok. Not a fan.

I feel like there is a lot of hype for cream and it was good, but my mind was not blown. I got an icecream sandwhich but the cookies tasted old, which was unfortunate. But for the cheap price of $2.99 it definitely hit the spot. And what I really did like is that they had soy options as well, very important for those lactose intolerant folks out there. Overall: Great cheap dessert option that you can customize, and if you check in you get a free cookie. Not too shabby

Cookies Rule Everything Around Me!! They have a good selection of ice creams, and an even better selection of fresh made warm cookies!!! I love their cookie sundae. My recipe... one chocolate chip cookie, caramel swirl ice cream, hot fudge and whipped cream...YUMMM!!!!! I want to try everything on the menu so I return here frequently!! Prices are super reasonable, service is okay, the lines are usually out the door and around the block, so after you finally find a parking space, get ready to wait!!! It's worth the wait though!!!

I don't go here as often as I used to a while ago, but when I do go here the ice cream and the cookies are always good. The cookies are crispy, yet chewy. Just the way I like them. The ice cream is soft and creamy. They blend perfectly together. What can I say, they're good at what they do.

Fresh baked cookies with ice cream. It's like the Diddy Riese in LA but based in Norcal, ish. My hopes were super high from reading all the reviews. It's been awhile since I've been to norcal, so I figured I'll indulge my fatass with treats 7 hours away. The array of different flavors wasn't too crazy. It was a good selection, but nothing like thai tea or horchata were present. Green tea, cookies and cream, mint chocolate chip, strawberry cheesecake, etc were there when I came by. After trying two flavors that I don't recall (they didn't wow me flavor-wise), I decided to go safe and got a cookie sandwich ($2.50) that consisted of mint chocolate chip ice cream, cushioned by a chocolate chip cookie and a snickerdoodle cookie. I bake often, and I can say I make better cookies then these. I've just never sandwiched the two together. HOWEVER, in terms of convenience and price, CREAM does a good job. Though the cookies were warm and fresh, it was a bit dense for me, not as soft and chewy as I had liked. The snickerdoodle was also okay. I appreciate that they were warm, however warm cookie in conjunction with the ice cream make for a messy eat. The ice cream was okay, it wasn't as creamy as I would have liked it to be (Han's Homemade in Costa Mesa !) but it fit the bill. Honestly, the cookie sandwich is something to be shared. My fatass ate the whole thing and though I didn't fall into a sugar rush after, I just felt like I really really had to brush my teeth. I'd go here again to share and if I were in the area, but I wouldn't go out of way for it. It was nice to finally get this off my list though :) And the customer service was nice.

Surprised with the gluten free, vegan, and lactose free options. I like how you can customize your ice cream sandwich. It seems like a simple concept and surprised there aren't any places like this the Bay Area. For that it is tasty treat is reasonably prices @ 2.99 for the base sandwich and extra for ala carte toppings. High recommended as I'll be again to try another flavor combo when I visit San Mateo.

An ice cream sandwich, what's not to like? With many flavors to choose from, I got mint chocolate ice cream with a white chocolate macadamia and cappuccino cookies. Huge scoop of ice cream squashed between two cookies, sounds perfect, except for the hard cookies. They weren't crunchy hard, but hard enough I had to put more effort in biting it. Halfway through I was tired of biting. I prefer chewy cookies, so that would have been perfect. For $2.00, it's not bad. It's a very filling and tasty dessert. Definitely a nice treat.

Whyyyyyyyyyyyy do you do this to me, CREAM? Why do you build a store just a few doors down from Tpumps? And why do you make my BFF come home, and crave Tpumps... and make the line at Tpumps so long that he then says "hey, we can probably grab CREAM in the time it takes for them to make our drinks!"... and why do you make your ice cream sandwiches so freaking amazing that I really did eat the whole damn sandwich in the time it took us to get our drinks. Fresh baked cookies + awesome ice cream = I'm glad there are no CREAMs within 10 miles of my house :)

Came here a little bit before closing and it was so great! My friend and I walked in, and the owner was there, as well as one of his workers. He asked if I wanted a sample and i said sure, and he ended up giving me a sample of each flavor of ice cream LOL it was crazy and unexpected. My friend couldn't believe it either haha, maybe it was because there weren't a lot of people at that time, but really great customer service. He was very personable and asked me what types of ice cream I usually like. He also recommended different cookies that were good with specific ice creams. I really enjoyed this experience, definitely one of my go to spots when I'm craving some ice cream!

I feel like this place is overrated (most "trendy" foods are). I came here with my parents because we saw that there was a short line. I got the salted caramel with snickerdoodle cookies and coconut. It was extremely messy and I couldn't taste the ice cream because the snickerdoodle was so cinnamon-y. Initially, I thought at least the cookie was really good because it was super soft, but the edges were actually really hard, making it even harder to eat because I'd bite into the hard cookie and the ice cream in the middle would squeeze out. In my opinion, the cookie choices and the ice cream choices don't seem like they meld well together (like really..what cookie are you going to get with say, green tea?). I think this is a great concept, but just alright in its actual form. Not worth any wait if you ask me.

  • J K.

The ice cream is legitimately very good. That Salted Caramel is ridiculous--I've lost sleep thinking about when I can get more of that stuff. The cookies are all-right, nothing to write home about, but still good. It's all about the ice cream here, in my opinion. There's usually an extremely long line after dinner (it can be a 20+ minute wait), so whenever I can, I try to go around 2 to 3:00 in the afternoon during the workweek, and there's almost never anyone in there.

  • Stella Y.

If you say ice cream, i'm already grabbing my keys and out the door. My sisters kept raving about this place since I moved away from home and I knew I had to try it. The line was long because they let you have as much ice cream samples as you want, but it gave me extra time to decide what I wanted. Too many combinations!! I settled for the banana walnut ice cream with a carnival chip cookie and the turtle cookie. I honestly did not like the cookies at all. They were too hard and didn't taste like the flavors they were supposed to be. The ice cream on the other hand was delicious!! I loved the smooth texture and the lightly infused banana. It wasn't overwhelming or tasted too artificial and the walnuts added a nice crunch. The portions were really generous and was in a perfect scoop! When I come back, I think I'll just settle for the ice cream but forgo the cookies.

Dude, it's so amazing (a) how many reviews of this joint already exist within less than a month of opening and (b) that someone has already checked in close to 20 times as of this writing. CREAM offers inexpensive cookies and ice cream (among other things). So it's really no secret why this is a hip and happening shop. The fact that it's a couple doors down from Tpumps and Old Town Sushi just adds to the hipness (or hypeness). The surprise, really, is HOW FREAKING GOOD THESE COOKIES ARE. I never visited the Palo Alto location because I figured: it's just cookies and ice cream; why should I wait in line? Then I came here and NOW I KNOW WHY YOU WAIT IN LINE. Because you're addicted to these FREAKING AWESOME SUGAR BOMBS. Ok, I think I got the all caps out of my system. Moving on... I've only had the ice cream once, and it's good (the snickerdoodle is great with the vanilla). But for me, the stars are the cookies. My favorite is carnival (M&Ms) but the turtle is great, as is the snickerdoodle as is the... er, everything. I have a nut allergy, so I have to be really careful about what I eat. However, only the GF cookies have the nuts I can't eat. So color me excited that I can eat all the non-GF cookies!!! YAY FOR ME!!! (OK, sorry, lied about the caps lock) But beware if you have a peanut allergy; some of the non-GF cookies do have peanuts. The ice cream, however, is a different story. If I had a suggestion? It seems not all employees are hip to the seriousness of nut allergies. Most are good about it - but if they could all be reminded why people need to ask about this, and why it's so important to (for example) scoop out the walnut ice cream with a separate scoop. Better yet: have a separate scoop for the nut ice creams in general. That would make the experience at CREAM five star for me. And I'd eat more ice cream. I'm not sure that's a great thing for my waistline... but there you have it. The other thing -- which is NOT the fault of the owners of CREAM, and therefore figures into my experience (but not my rating) -- at some hours of the day you will encounter teenagers exhibiting extreme PDA as they wait in line. SOOOOO do not need to see that. I just want my stinkin' cookie... er, cookies... without the side of pawing. I do have to give props to the staff. I had one snafu with my cookies and they took care of it *immediately* and graciously. (I didn't catch the guy's name who helped me out... but to give him recognition... he was working the register on Friday afternoon 3/28. Super friendly, enthusiastic, totally the kind of person that, as an employer, you'd want on the front lines dealing with customers.) tl; dr: GREAT COOKIES. Good ice cream (but be careful about the nut ones). Friendly service. Be prepared to wait. And be prepared to return!

Similar to Diddy Riese in LA... I've been here 4 times, and all but one I've waited in line less than 5 minutes. If you're trying to get an ice cream sandwich Friday or Saturday night then expect to wait up to an hour; but for a midday treat or dessert after dinner on a weekday? 5-10 mins. This location is fast and always helpful when I want to try a new flavor and know which cookies just came out of the over and are warm :) I always get a half sandwich (ice cream in between one cookie cut into two halves). It is not list on the menu but it is only $1.75! Cheaper than if you were to get just a scoop of ice cream! This way I feel a LITTLE less guilty about indulging in salted caramel ice cream with snickerdoodle cookies. Will definitely come back again. and again.

I tried out CREAM for the first time last month with my husband and daughter. The line was out the door, but it moved fast. The young man who served us (Justin) was very friendly and helpful. He offered us samples of ice cream and even some recommendations for sandwich combinations. Everything we had was delicious. There isn't a CREAM location near where I live, so if we are ever out in the San Mateo area again, we will definitely stop by.

I cannot understand the lines; I was really let down by the hype. Who doesn't like cookies? Or Ice cream? Or even ice cream sandwiched by cookies? Oh and milkshakes? The warm cookies were great, but they completely overpowered any kind of ice cream flavor you chose. I couldn't taste anything but the cookie, and I had at least 2 flavors in there. I took a bite out of another sandwich combo and I had the same exact experience. The milkshake was by far the worst milkshake I've had. It was flat, thin, and tasted like half of it was comprised of water. I had to throw most of it out as I couldn't bother to finish past four sips. The foundation of any ice cream store with the word "Cream" in it's name, should at least have good, quality ice cream. Does anyone else feel that this is the most absurd thing in this case? By good grace, all items were really inexpensive. Thankfully. I came here happily to get fat and getting ridiculously guilty for eating an ice cream sandwich. I came away with just feeling ridiculous.

If you're looking for a delicious, cheap dessert fix, come here! I did come the 2nd weekend of the opening so I did have to wait a good 45 minutes and they ran out of all the flavors I would have potentially picked (Green tea & salted caramel). I can never finish the entire thing without feeling like I ate too much sugar so I normally save one side of the cookie for another time and eat the other cookie + ice cream separately.. kind of like a pazookie. My favorite cookies to pick are the double chocolate chip and the snickerdoodle. Bring cash! It'll be 50 cents cheaper than the card price.

I was overcharged $2 the second time I visited CREAM, but didn't say anything because the employee was very friendly so I considered it as a "tip" for them. A couple nights later, I came in on a busy night and really didn't understand how my order of 2 half cookie sandwiches + 1 topping, 1 whole cookie sandwich with no toppings, and 1 brownie totaled to $16.20. The employee working the cashier position at around 10:00pm on 03/05/2014 didn't ask me if I wanted a receipt, which I assumed was standard for all business practices. Unfortunately, I only realized that they overcharged me when I got home. Normally I wouldn't whine over $6, but this is the SECOND time this has happened and they seriously need to do something about this issue! 1/2 sandwich - $1.75 1/2 sandwich - $1.75 + $.75 1 sandwich - $2.99 1 brownie - $3.00 TOTAL = $10.24 MY TOTAL = $16.20 I called the number they provided on the Yelp website and Fadi answered. I told him about my situation and without hesitation, offered me a gift card or a refund of the overcharged amount. It's nice to know that San Mateo CREAM appreciates their customers and doesn't argue with their customers unlike the Palo Alto location, hence the 1 star, but I think I'll be visiting CREAM less frequently from now on.

The smell hits you a block away pure deliciousness! The people are so friendly Couldn't believe the line moved that quick... The staff must have red Bull cream sandwiches on the hidden menu I had the banana walnut icecream w/ white chocolate macadamia nut cookies... No sprinkles tho I was tempted but figured I'd save that for the next trip when I take on the Taco! Great place to bring the kids! But a greater place to hit after a night out.

I understand the reviewers that say this dessert is too sweet. I first discovered CREAM when I was going to school at Cal and a CREAM had opened walking distance from campus. It was so overly sweet and heavy, I just couldn't. A few years later, I visit this location and chose a different combination and it was delicious. Chocolate chip and caramel swirl, yum. I realized certain flavors are just too over-the-top sweet together. They could work on making their ice creams and cookies less sweet though, but it's still good. Just wish they would cut the sugar by 25-50%.

I had been wanting to try CREAM for a long time (cookies, ice cream, what's not to like?). I'm from Socal so when I found out my group was passing one our way to get boba, I ditched my group to get in there. The store: It's got a very minimalist vibe to it. Which is okay to me, but more color would be nice. It was a pretty white store. The problem is that the floors can get a little dirty due to the fact and it shows. But not a big deal kind of thing. The line up is pretty cool, you can see that they make the cookies and keep em fresh. The food: Awesome! If you have a big sweet tooth you're in for something awesome. I myself got macademia nut cookies with blueberry cheesecake ice cream, as well as a double chocolate with sea salt caramel ice cream. They were quite frankly better than stuff like Diddy Riese. For the price also it was quite a deal. It cost about 5 bucks or so. Use the check in deak for a free cookie while you're at it! The service: Awesome, the people there were nice and friendly, and they were attentive to my wants. They even chatted me up a bit asking where I was from and stuff I was into. That was a good pick me up! I don't remember their names, but they were definitely on their A game. The wait: This is probably the only reason I knocked it down a star (I wish I could give half scores...) was the line. I luckily got in right before a huge rush of people and it only took like 5 minutes to get my sandwiches on a Saturday night, but afterward when I left there was a line ouy the door thst appeared behind me. I didn't have to wait, but it is a bit ridiculous how long the line can get. I was in that position as well one time when I first attempted to get CREAM near Berkeley. I don't think it's completely worth that wait. Regardless, it's an awesome dessert place and highly recommend trying it once if you have a super sweettooth. Otherwise, it might not be your cup of tea (or ice cream sandwich)

The ICE CREAM man is coming! Any place that cleverly disguises a Wu-Tang Clan reference while serving one of the best desserts known to man clearly deserves 5-stars! French-vanilla, butter-pecan....but where's chocolate-deluxe!? Method Man would be disappointed...Psych! They have a myriad of flavors including chocoholic, which does just fine! But seriously, usually an ice cream sandwich consists of subpar ice cream (typically a version of soft serve) and a sorry excuse for cookies (usually a super soft sticky chocolate "stuff"), but not at CREAM! They have legitimate cookies that would do just fine one their own. Moreover, they're enhanced by ice cream flavors which would also do fine on their own! It's really 1+1=3 here! The portions are BIG, which is awesome, so I usually go family style with a few others, split each order in two (difficult to cut to be honest), and let the bartering begin! I've had vanilla, chocoholic, strawberry cheesecake, and green tea on various different cookies. Being a plain guy, I liked french vanilla on double chocolate chip the most. I liked green tea the least, but I feel like green tea ice cream is an acquired taste and has its own following. Anyway, great take on an American classic! Ya best protect ya' neck and get CREAM!

I've heard so many good things about this place! I was really excited to finally come try it out. My friend said that this San Mateo location is new but it get super busy and crowded. We went around noon and surprisingly there was no line. I ordered the Peanut Butter Cookie with Salted Caramel Ice Cream. Service was super quick and friendly. The Peanut Butter Cookie was really good, but I wish it was softer. The Salted Caramel was really good, it wasn't super salty like Bi-Rite which I did enjoy. For $2.99, its not bad. You can also add toppings to your ice cream. I would definitely come back if I were in the area! Who doesn't like Cookies and Ice Cream?!?

Love this place. It was my first time and the service was great. Ice cream inside a Cookie and taco waffle with ice cream. I had a rocky road and strawberry and looking for a coffee flavor cup of Joe.. Lots of people. Parking can be a challenge so be ready to walk. I love the area lots of food to choose so I don't mind walking. They close late too.

Love the concept but the ice cream totally lacks flavor. I have tried several different flavors and they all, except for the peanut butter, tasted weak. Not worth the wait in line at all.

Whenever I'm near a cream location and I'm craving something sweet I'll always drop by and get a ice cream sandwich from them. Nice selection of cookies and ice cream to make any combo you'd crave. Might seem a bit pricy but then again how often would you eat these?

I used to work in San Mateo and dined at many restaurants in the downtown area a few years back. Downtown San Mateo was indeed my second home. My first return in awhile and many businesses do come and go. One of many new hangouts for the younger crowds to obtain a sweet treat is the newest Cream creamery. The newest Cream location is located in the heart Downtown San Mateo. This is a smaller location than the Palo Alto location. But obviously a less busy location with friendly and hustling staffs baking cookies and using the muscles in scooping up scoops of frozen ice cream. On my debut of the new San Mateo location, I have decided to make the hard-working workers work and blast me a Salted Caramel Milkshake. For $6.00, the concoction contains a good amount of Salted Caramel Ice cream and fully-fat cream pulverized in a loud blender with a cloud of whipped cream and a cute maraschino cherry topping. The milkshake is definitely costs much higher than the traditional ice cream sandwich and higher than most milkshake places. But the milkshake is thick and very creamy with a noticeable taste of the flavored ice cream. Even with regards to the concept of the Ice Cream Sandwich made with freshly-baked cookies, I was not impressed. But I do like new San Mateo location and might come back and give the Ice cream sandwich another chance.

Don't let the line out the door intimidate you. It moves pretty fast. Select two cookies and a scoop of ice cream to form your own treat. The ice cream sandwiches are $2.99 ($2.50 if you're paying cash). A scoop of mint chocolate chip sandwiched between two double chocolate chip cookies is as good as it gets for me. I devoured mine so fast I forgot to take a photo. The ice cream is rich and not overly sweet. The cookies are incredible on their own too. The oatmeal and snicker doodle and both were yummy. Cookies can be purchased individually for 79¢. Can't wait to go back!

  • Mikey U.

CREAM is good but definitely overhyped. I do enjoy their sandwiches occasionally, but my complaint is the inconsistency of the cookies. The cookies are usually too crispy/hard and make it difficult to eat. They also aren't always warm, which in my opinion is an essential part of an ice cream sandwich. When they do it right, I would give the sandwich a 5 star, but it is way too rare that this happens. I will agree that the price is very reasonable compared to a lot of ice cream shops at only $3. If you don't see a huge line, give it a try.

Yummy! My first ice cream sandwich "boutique" experience was in LA at Coolhaus and this place does not disappoint! While they don't have such creative flavors as them, the ice cream was very good. My husband and I asked them to split one for us, what a wonderful service since one is very filling, especially after dinner. All kinds of cookies that you would want and numerous typical flavors of ice cream. There was a line out the door on the Sunday night that we went but it moved very quickly. Definitely recommend.

  • Lucy C.

Although there is nothing super special about ice cream sandwiches, Cream's are good enough that I've returned many times. The price is very reasonable ($2.99!) and the cookies always taste freshly baked and are still slightly warm. Not to mention there are tons of cookie and ice cream flavor options. Could I make something like this at home? Yes. But honestly, ain't nobody got time for that.

  • Mark C.

Heard a lot about this place throughout the Bay, found one in San Mateo so decided to try. Line down the block, so it had to be good, right. Didn't disappoint. Cookies were hot and fresh, ice cream rich and yummy. The only reason it didn't get to 5 stars was the fact it's overly messy and cookies disintegrate. Other then that, recommended.

Don't forget to check in for a free cookie with your purchase! That's twice now I've forgotten... Getting an ice cream sandwich at CREAM is always a good idea. Reminiscent of Diddy Riese during my UCLA days, it's the perfect place for a light, fun dessert. They have a solid ice cream selection (nothing artisan, if that's become your standard) and their cookies are on the crispy side. You can order just ice cream or cookies, but why not get the sandwich? After all, it's only $2.99! I tried their soy flavors, which are delicious. I like that they offer than option for non-dairy eaters. Also, their ice cream taco looks AMAZING. A little too much for me, though. The best things I've tried: soy blueberry ice cream and snickerdoodle cookie - yesss.

Oh, the choices! The options hang brightly high above. Eating an ice cream sandwich can get really messy for me. I considered a scoop in a cup but what's the fun in that? I sampled a few flavors before choosing the Cup of Joe which was recommended to me by Michelle F. I did like the salted caramel but it's much softer and didn't pack the punch Bi-rite does so well. Overhead a previous customer mention she wanted just a half sandwich! I was coming straight from dinner at a neighboring restaurant and thought that'd be perfect. I asked for a half sandwich with a peanut butter cookie and rainbow sprinkles. Just the right amount but still equally as mesy :) I paid with cash and got the 50 cents discount plus the price of a half cookie sandwich is a bit less than a full. ...and just for comparison purposes, it's the shiny new version of Diddy Riese (and better).

Yummy in my tummy! This was my first experience at CREAM and I will definitely be going back! I got snickerdoodle cookies with salted caramel ice cream, delish! Service was fast and friendly

Yeesh. New San Mateo vibe I guess. Music blasting so loud the staff get snippy saying they can't hear your order. Line out the door, two working, two talking, one table to eat at for 20 customers. Prominent tip jar tho!! The ice cream is pretty decent, a bit too sweet, but not overpriced.

I been wanting to try cream after seeing many picture on Instagram from my friend. I got here around 6 pm and was excited to try their famous ice cream sandwich. I came here with my girlfriend and we each decide to order our own ice cream sandwich. I order double chocolate chip cookie with Rocky road ice cream. The price came out to be around 5 for each one. I must say that I was quite disappointed of cream. The cookies that I got was kind of burn so that the cookie was hard as a rock. It was hard to take a bite with the ice cream because the ice cream will spill to the side as I was trying to eat the cookie. The ice cream was decent but why will you serve burn cookie. That is something that I don't get. Overall, I don't think I will be coming back to cream. I like my ice cream sandwich to in chewy cookie rather than rock solid cookie. If I ever to decide to come back, I think I will just stick to getting ice cream here and not the cookie.

I'd like to start off by saying that the ice cream here is as tasty as the CREAM in Palo Alto. However, I couldn't say the same for the employees and thier business ethics. I recently ordered CREAM from Eat24 because my kids wanted ice cream yet we didn't want to wait in line with the little ones so I placed an order which was suppose to be ready within 10-30 miniutes. I waited in the car while my husband went to pick up the ice cream inside. When he went to pick up the order a young woman told him that there were no orders and that if we had placed an order it did not finalize. Okay, so he gets back to the car empty handed which obviously disappointed our children. I arrived home and thought I'd double check if I was charged for the order which she ensured hadn't been placed. Boy was she wrong! I called her back a half hour later and asked why she turned us away when I had a purchase receipt in my email. She than said very rudely ( oh I didn't charge the iPad so I didn't receive the order. Tell me what you ordered and I will make it and you can come get it) there was no apologies, no mannerisms, and no professionalism. In fact, it was our faults that the iPad was uncharged. We not only had to make two trips downtown and find and pay for parking twice we also went home with the wrong ice cream on one of our orders which we recieved an hour in a half after placing the order. Hmmmmmm how great is that. I'm very displeased with thier business ethics and problem solving. Wishing thier business ethics and customer service was as good as thier ice cream ...providing they are able to get the order right ;) NOTE TO MANAGEMENT: hire people that mirror the business ethics you strive for according to your website. Our time is worth money and I would have never even written this review if I had been given a simple apology. Mistakes happen but not correcting them properly and to be given attitude for the employee's mistake is unacceptable

I don't get the appeal. I've had people tell me it's their favorite dessert place in the world, straight faced, and until now I believed it to be amazing. Seriously people? First, there's not much creativity going into the cookies or ice cream flavors. They're pretty standard flavors that you can find at any grocery store and put together a mediocre ice cream sandwich yourself. In fact, the ice cream tastes like the ice cream you can find in those giant tubs at the grocery store that only get purchased by scout masters who can't afford better and don't think the kids will notice anyway. The cookies are okay, but they get reheated and the edges form a hard chewy crust that makes eating the ice cream sandwich a real issue. The only plus for me was the service. The people who work there are patient and will give you their opinions on what works well together. They'll also do things like cut the sandwich in half in case you want to share. I'm sorry, while the concept is a good one, the execution needs to be better to even warrant visiting again.

Lucky me, there was no line when I walked in. But it was Monday afternoon when most people are working or going to school. Perks of not having a nine-to-five! I've been to the Berkeley one and I've waited my share of time for CREAM. It definitely tastes better without the long wait! I got Chocolate Chip Cookies with Banana Fudge Walnut. The warm half-chewy-half -crispy cookie was perrfect with any ice cream! Only minus one star because it basically is just ice cream between two cookies. It's not rocket science. But I like that they give you a discount if you pay with cash. $2.50 each, I could eat these everyday!

Uh whutttttttttttt! When I heard that CREAM was coming to San Mateo, I had slightly mixed feelings. I've yet to try the Palo Alto location, but I've tried the Berkeley one and and I thought it was pretty neato. So knowing that they opened one nearby (or like 20 minutes more like) was better than going out for an hour to Berkeley. Why mixed feelings? Because I felt that this place would become another hype. (Maybe not now, but later haha) This one is a few stores away from TPumps, so I assumed that the place would be swarming with baby bops and loiters. But surprisingly it waaaasnt! There were a good 3-4 workers so business moves at a fairly good pace. The menu is up on the back wall, but dear God the font is so weird. I had to squint to make out some of the words. They have ice cream cookie sandwiches, ice cream alone, cookies alone, shakes, and tacos (waffle shell shaped like a taco). There is a wide array of cookie and ice cream flavors. You can make absolutely any kind of combination and question whether you made the right choice or not later. Double chocolate with vanilla ice cream, white macadamia nut with mint chocolate chip ice cream, turtle with strawberry ice cream, the possibilities are endless. Process is as follows: 1. Choose your cookie. You can have one flavor, or mix and match two. 2. Choose your ice cream (only one) 3. Add toppings for an additional .75 cents more. I tried their green tea ice cream with their macadamia nut cookies with sprinkles (idk I really like sprinkles). They add one big scoop of ice cream in between two semi medium sized cookies. I'm glad I chose green tea. It wasn't so sweet compared to the cookie. That was sweet as hell, but I really like how not too crunchy and not too soft it was. It was inbetween for me. Paying with card is more expensive than paying with cash. $2.50 for cash, $2.99 for card. Street parking only, betta bring the coins unless you come later in the night. Overall I had a good experience here. Would I come back, sure why not, I would love to try their unique cookie flavors. Bring napkins! It gets messy :)!

Cream? Oh, you mean the place that gives me the shakes from the excitement and pleasure given by the mere mention of this dessert Mecca? Cream has a simple premise: ice cream nestled between two warm cookies. But what it does well: 1) it doesn't Nickel-and-dime its customers. A sandwich is $2.99 no matter what you get, including add-ons. 2) the cookies aren't hardened, frozen-then-warmed cookies. They are truly fresh and soft and so unhealthy. 3) the ice cream flavors range from classic to artisanal. Don't settle for boring, freezer-aisle choices. I knew I wanted salted caramel ice cream, so I asked the guy behind the counter for his reco for cookies. He suggested snickerdoodle. I went for it. HE NAILED IT. I'm still dreaming of the combo that hit my tastebuds. #unbelievable.

I'm happy to see CREAM open up in San Mateo! Went there last night and the line moved fast. Got the salted caramel ice cream with regular chocolate chip cookies. Cookies were fresh and ice cream was tasty. The best part - $2.50! We will be back again and again.

If you're looking for a fun way to eat ice cream then this is the place for you. Tired of the boring cones? Want to have a twist on things, well how about cookies that you substitute as the bread for an ice cream sandwiches! This looks cool, the staff are energetic and young and they always bring the best in late night entertainment to the hungry masses. Unfortunately for me I've had tons of friends talk my eat off about CREAM. The most popular location is in Berkeley and although I was tempted to wanna try it, I couldn't find myself crossing the bridge for ice cream. Do the the magnitude of the hype I found that it just couldn't live up to it. I enjoyed the layout and if you plan it right you can make it there in between the waves of people that visit this location everyone couple of minutes. The varieties are nothing special but they do sound very delicious. Every Popular ice cream you can think of and a few new ones. They even have a wife selection of toppings to match. I personally had the popular sugar cookies with the pistachio ice cream. I was lucky to try it out with my wife and two of our close friends. We all were trying it for the first time and we came to the same conclusion. Good but not great ice cream. Next time we plan on trying the ice cream taco, we hear good things about it. So is it overhyped? yes! are the lines long? Yes! But after a night of fun and you want something a little unconventional for a snack, then this is worth it!

So many combinations, everyone in our party of 8 found what they wanted. Cookies were sweet, but not overly sugary. Green tea ice cream sandwiched between snickerdoodles was recommended by the server and is now my new go-to combination. I recommend looking over the extensive menu ahead of time if possible, to avoid frustrating the line behind you. It's also notable that they even have vegan options (both cookies and "ice cream"!

Came to this place after dinner at old town sushi down the block. We've seen this place with a long line up before and was wondering what all the hype was about. Looking at some past reviews it looks like they may have been giving it away for free at the time so that explains it. I'm thinking to myself how good can an ice cream sandwich be. So they have lots of flavors to mix and match with cookies and we tried a few. Ended up getting mint chip with chocolate chip cookies and sated caramel with turtle cookies. Surprisingly it was pretty decent. While the ice cream isn't as good as say a place like bi-rite, for the price of $2.50 you get 2 deserts in one. 1 scoop of ice cream and 2 cookies. Not too bad for a after dinner treat or an afternoon snack. I even checked in on yelp and got a free cookie for checking in. If you want ice cream or cookies in the area it is a pretty nice spot to go. I wouldn't wait too long for it but they move it pretty efficiently and it's the only to go type ice cream shop around so it fills a need in the area. They even had a sample tray of the mistake cookies on the counter so you could sample them. There was about a dozen cookies up there almost so they didn't really care how much you "sampled". My son enjoyed that part the most. We'll definitely be back for ice cream here in the future.

Overrated. I think this place might be the sister business of T-pumps? Not sure. But it certainly has that feel to it. Also I note that T-Pumps no longer have their LCD menus but Cream has. Maybe they moved it over here? Ok so its all about the Ice cream sandwich and to be honest that thing is HUGE!!! And you are suppose to eat it with your hands, but its so big that it will melt everywhere, so I went for the ice cream in a cup option with a cookie on the side. My bf got a Chocolate Malt shake. Shake was ok, sweet, chocolate, malty. Not as good as the Baskin and Robins ones. The Ice cream was a little meh. I got the Coconut pineapple. You can't taste much of the pineapple or the coconut in the ice cream, but there are chunks of coconut all through it and not the tasty kind. More the old chewy kind. Maybe I've been spoiled by Silberman's in San Rafael, sooo creamy.... The cookie was good, Mrs Fields good. See where I'm going here..... Overall it was pricey for hyped up mediocre. Won't be back.

I got a red velvet ice cream sammie and it was delish! Know what's even better? They can do half ice cream sammies!!!! One whole ice cream sandwich is too rich and sweet anyway. Half is perfect because it satisfies your craving and saves you the calories. Score!!

After the third visit, finally decided to go ahead with a review. Having come from LA where one of my favorites was Diddy Reese (which had a very similar concept), I was skeptical on how this would compare. The bright lights and old school hip hop is a nice touch to lure folks in and keep a fun atmosphere. While I feel that their cookies are OK, warm right out of the oven but very quickly gets cold. I've tried the sugar, oatmeal, and chocolate chip cookies but decided that the chocolate ones are the best. It's not the best cookie that you'll ever have, but it does meet expectations. However, their ice cream is exceptional. My husband's favorite is the vanilla ice cream. As someone who is super picky about his vanilla ice cream, my husband has deemed this one to be beyond fantastic. The vanilla is creamy and soft, almost like soft serve with has a great consistency against the crunchy warm chocolate chip cookies. Everytime I've been to Cream I've tried a different flavor. My favorite so far has been the banana chocolate which everyone must try, even if you're not a big fan of vanilla. Overall, a good cheap place to get dessert. However, being purely a store front, not the place to hang out with large groups and talk while you eat your ice cream.

There was a bit of a line upon arriving here but I didn't mind one bit knowing it could only mean deliciousness awaits. The staff was really friendly and were patient when we couldn't decide on what to order (we ended up with 4 ice cream sandwiches). I thought everything was delicious but I had to take away one star only because the cookies weren't that soft. Either way, I still enjoyed my ice cream sandwich and wouldn't mind coming back again soon.

CREAM is located right on the block where Tpumps is and the parking situation is the same as other places. There is street parking and there is the garages. This CREAM location is pretty big, but they have less seating than the Palo Alto location. In total there's about 5 seats altogether so you're probably not gonna be able to chill here and eat. The staff here was friendly and the ice cream sandwich maker smiled as she greeted us so star for her! They offer a lot of choices of cookies and even MORE flavors of ice cream. And there is gluten free and soy flavors~ I got their chocolate chip cookies with mint chocolate chip ice cream and the size of it was a bit smaller than the Palo Alto location, but their cookies were definitely softer. The mint chocolate ice cream wasn't that flavorful, though. It was just okay. My boyfriend got their cappuccino cookies with coconut ice cream and he said the cookies were too hard. Overall, okay place if you're a lover of ice cream sandwiches. I prefer making them at home so I probably won't frequent as much, but still- it's good once in a while! NOTE: Ice cream sandwiches: Cash- $2.50 each Credit- $2.99 each

Cream reminds me of the college days when people who have the extreme case of the munchies go into the cafeteria because the food is so intolerable otherwise...and then the "TA-DA!" moment happens as everyone tries to DIY their dessert, with the end result being ice cream sandwiches a la cream style. Anyway, the line is pretty long even around the time when the store first opens at noon. It doesn't go by super fast, but between Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and other platforms of communication people now use, you somehow end up to the front of the line when you lift your eyes from the screen. The price is super reasonable, and you'll basically get to choose whether you want to eat your cookie-ice-cream-sandwich at the store (at the standing bar area) or while you go about your day. I'm not an ice cream connoisseur but I've always liked local ice cream parlors, Mitchell's, Bi-Rite, PollyAnn's, in the city. I also like the big chains like Coldstone, Haagen-dazs, etc. Would I drive all the way throughout the Bay looking for Cream? Probably not. Yes, it's cheap but I think my gas tank's source of food isn't. So unless I'm in the area, I probably won't be eating at Cream for awhile.

The grand opening was today. You didn't miss anything if you didn't make it in for the free ice cream. Nothing new. All the same. Parking will be an issue so you will be driving around the block until you find a free spot. Since Tpumps is a few door down from CREAM. Everyone is going to need their fix during the summer and I can already picture two long lines from both spots on the same block. It's nice to have another CREAM establishment. I don't like their Berkeley location so I can always come to this one when I don't feel like driving to their Palo Alto location.

Love this place! Catering is better than their actual location since I hate waiting in line and they always have a huge line. LOL. The staff is friendly and young - lots of dancing and friendly yelling at each other. They have also catered my sons birthday several times(which I prefer) and I loved them so much my company now places catering orders. Yummy ice cream and the owners are some of the best people I know :)

Came here just for the cookies this time. The person who rung me up charged me the wrong amount for the cookies. She charged me the individual cookie price, instead of the multiple cookie price, which is supposed to be cheaper. It was just a few cents, so I didn't make a big deal out of it, but it's still pretty annoying.

First time trying this place out with my bf and it was a win. Personalized cookie sandwiches, tacos or just cookies for super cheap? No wonder there's always a long line and people are raving about this place. Came here half an hour before closing time, there was a short line, and service is pretty quick. I got a chocolate chip cookie sandwich with banana walnut fudge ice cream. My bf got a snicker doodle sandwich with cup of joe ice cream. Both were so good! Definitely will be coming back, if not to this one then the one in EPA since I live closer to that side. Minus the 1 star because the ice cream melted a little too fast for my liking therefore causing me to make a big chocolate mess in my hands. Also, I would've preferred a softer cookie. I will probably ask for a fresh one next time.

Half of an ice cream sandwich for under $2??? Yes please! I couldn't believe how cheap an ice cream sandwich was until I tried CREAM. I love that their menu is so customizable. You get to pick whether you want a whole or half ice cream sandwich, what kind of freshly baked cookie(s) you want, and the ice cream flavor. I was like a kid in a candy shop! I chose the double chocolate chip cookie and the peanut butter ice cream and it was delicious. Half of ice cream sandwich was plenty large for me especially after eating a huge bowl of ramen. I highly recommend trying this shop out since you get 2 desserts (cookies and ice cream) for the price of one!

I came in with my friend to get some cookies and this girl worker was being a b*tch. My friend ordered a lemon cookie and she goes "we don't have lemon anymore. It's not even on the menu" with the rude snobby attitude. At first we just ignored it, but then my friend asked if their cookies were warm. The really rude worker was "THEY'RE ON TOP OF THE OVEN?!?!" And she just walks away. Like what. She was just asking a question and the worker just snaps back at her. We really couldn't believe how horrible she was to us. She really should be fired. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have a picture of her and I'm uploading it for everyone to see. What a b*tch

yum! Cookies [do indeed] Rule Everything Around Me! i've always wanted to try this place, and today was my lucky day! it was the perfect dessert complement to the ramen i had for dinner :). i split a cookie ice cream sandwich with a friend, which was just the right amount of sweet for the two of us. we ordered a chocolate chip cookie/cookies n cream ice cream sandwich ($2.99). the service was friendly, quick, and they even split our sandwich into halves for us to ensure easier consumption. in my opinion, the sandwich was a good price for a substantially sized ice cream cookie sandwich. there is no way in hell that i would be able to consume a whole sandwich myself without getting a stomachache, but i would say it's the perfect shareable post-dinner treat for the cookie and ice cream lovers! there's a very large selection of cookie types and ice cream flavors, so the possibilities are endless! i would definitely come back here again. check in on yelp for a free cookie with a purchase of $5 or more!

They allow you to choose whatever flavor cookie you desire along w/ your choice of ice cream and toppings. Very inexpensive treat which comes out to under $4. Our ice cream wasn't evenly spread out and it turned our cookies into a weird texture. The cookies were super hard but when you bit into it, it had moments of chewiness mixed in w/ extreme crunch. It was quite odd. Great concept but execution was lacking.

I like desserts, but the ice cream sandwich was TOO SWEET. I felt like I was getting diabetes with my one bite. My husband asked for recommendations on which cookies complemented the salted caramel ice cream. We had one snickerdoodle and one dark chocolate cookie with salted caramel. Cookie was fresh, but wasn't anything special. The salted caramel ice cream wasn't salty enough to offset the sweetness. Cheap for $3. I do like the gluten free and the soy ice cream options, so maybe those are not as sweet.

Such a wonderful not-so-hidden gem for ice cream! The staff here are absolutely lovely, and the variety of cookie and ice cream flavors really hits the spot! I couldn't decide what to get, so I ended up sampling about 6 or so different flavors before finally deciding on their coffee flavor (okay, I was probably always doomed to get that since it's one of my I-have-to-get-if-it's-offered flavors, but their chocolate, green tea, and pistachio flavors were incredibly tempting). Made it into an ice cream sandwich with a red velvet cookie and a double chocolate chip cookie. The cookies were a bit harder for my taste, despite being warmed, but were nonetheless enjoyable. For only $3, they really give you a LOT of ice cream and cookie!

Normally not such a big fan of Cream but after a not so fully satisfying dinner and some snacks and drinks at a bar, the smell of the fresh baked cookies dragged us here. Line wasn't too bad. At first I told myself I was only gonna get half an ice cream sandwich since I ate so much earlier on but once I got to the front, couldn't resist. Ordered myself a chocolate chip cookie and oatmeal cookie sandwich with strawberry cheesecake ice cream. Best. decision. ever. I devoured that entire thing and it was amazing. Not a bit of guilt and it made me so happy. Great way to end the night!

Ice cream and cookies....what's not to like? Love the acronym: Cookies Rule Everything Around Me...... They make fresh baked cookies on site and their ice cream is also their own recipe! There are plenty of different types of cookies and ice cream flavors so just go crazy on your ice cream sandwich combo! My kids and I have been very pleased with all of our choices and have been back plenty of times to try different combinations. We highly recommend Cream whenever you're in the mood for some good 'ol Ice Cream sandwiches!

I don't understand the lines here! the employees are not working at maximum efficiency-- quite possibly to keep the lines long and give off the vibe of "come-get-amazing-ice-cream-sandwiches..." well, it worked. this was the SHORTEST line I've seen outside a CREAM establishment, so we decided to wait. I got snickerdoodle cookies with toasted almond ice cream... one snickerdoodle was over-baked and crunchy... the other was soft-baked and perfect. I don't think it's supposed to be like that, so the cookie was a little disappointing, but the ice cream was amaaaaaaazing. I'd go back... why not.

Stale old cookies plus low quality ice cream. The only pro is the fact that you can customize it. But who wants customized gross ice cream and gross cookies?

  • Heejin L.

I didn't think this was anything special or worth waiting in line for. Good thing there wasn't a line when I went around 4 pm on a weekday. The ice cream flavors were pretty bland. The salted caramel wasn't salty. The cup of Joe was probably the best, but it wasn't flavorful enough for me. The cookie was not bad. It was average. I like the bendy kind with a crunchy crust but this wasn't. Had the snickerdoodle which was ok. And the chocolate chip cookie. If you pay cash, I think its 49 cents cheaper. You can also get one cookie split in half to have a half ice cream cookie sandwich as opposed to a whole one which is good for those light snackers out there (but not for me, of course).

So I can't love love love this place because it's not Diddy Riese (Westwood anyone?), but it's as close as it gets, even though their ice cream sandwich is a dollar more. Fresh baked cookies and ice cream for cheap! I always get a vegan snickerdoodle with some sort of caramel ice cream inside. Every time I order vegan, they ask something like "dietary restriction or preference?" Why does it matter? Even if it's just a preference, your cookies should be completely vegan if it was advertised as such... right? Also very, very grateful that they do half sandwiches! I always want a whole one, but have been filled with regret every time I've ordered a whole and attempted to finish it. For the half, they just cut one cookie in half and sandwich one scoop (it's not any less than the whole) of ice cream in between the halves!

    (4)
  • Tatjana V.

It's ice cream in between two cookies. What is there NOT to love? This location ALWAYS has the best customer service and the best recommendations. They're always smiling and happy to help.

  • Vanessa O.

What's not to like about ice cream sandwiched between two warm cookies? So the novelty has probably worn off- the lines were out the door when they opened...it could just be because it's technically winter time...oh well. I picked up an ice cream sandwich I could share with the wifey- we have opposite taste preferences but if there is any chocolate involved, we can definitely agree on choosing that. I got the Soy Vanilla ice cream with 2 chocolate chip cookies...nom nom! These ice cream cookie sandwiches can be shared amongst two...just ask them to split it!

  • Ryan R.

There are places that sell just cookies and there are places that service just ice cream, but cream just sell ice cream sandwiches which was a great idea! Everyone loves ice cream sandwiches - i love "it's it" sandwiches! Thats what i thought about when i waited in the super long lines. After getting a scoop of ice cream on my fresh baked cookie - it ended there. Other than the fact that they sell fresh ice cream sandwiches - its just ok tasting cookie with ok ice cream - the same type of quality you would get if you were to make yourself one at home. The combination also makes it overly sweet which makes it uncomfortable to eat after your hallway through it. If they had to rely on the quality of their products individually then they wouldn't be so popular, but since they are marketed as ice cream sandwich its a PR frenzy. Kids would love this place tho cause its a cookies and ice cream and they love sweets. I think Mitchels makes better ice cream sandwiches.

The ice cream taco was amazing. It was like a wonderful orgasm in your mouth. The ice cream was very flavorful and creamy. The texture of the ice cream taco was the best. The crispness of the waffle was very crispy and the sprinkles added some more crisp to it. When the waffle, sprinkles, and the ice cream are combined, it just creates this beautiful texture. I would recommend this place for a little sweet dessert after having a nice dinner at S. B street.

This place is like the dollar store of ice cream sandwiches. At $2.50 for a custom ice cream sandwich, I can't really expect Mitchell Ice Cream or Ghiradelli quality. It is what it is. Cheap, good, and fresh. Or should I say cool. There's always a line here, and with hundreds of crazy possible combinations, it's an ice cream sandwich nirvana. Since it's so reasonable, every time I bet someone, I always bet them an ice cream sandwich here in case I lose. So why the 3 stars? It's something about their cookies. I've had their peanut butter, chocolate chip, macadamia, etc, and the hard crispy texture just always throws me off. It's my own cookie bias. I don't want to crunch into my ice cream sandwich like it's bread. I want it to be soft and chewy. Also, the ice cream isn't creamy enough for me. It's like the free nameless ice cream I would get at a restaurant. Just not my thing. But, since it's cheap, and my friends think it's good, I find myself coming here and watching them enjoy their ice cream sandwiches.

It's fresh cookies with delicious ice cream. If you don't like that I have no idea why you're even reading this. Forget cold stone, forget Baskin Robbins. Go here, you won't regret it.

I love ice cream. And I love cookies. So of course I love ice cream sandwiches! LOVE the cup of joe ice cream. And the roasted almonds is also delicious. Chocoholic is just how it sounds, super chocolate-y. I always love getting the snicker doodle cookie cause it's tasty but doesn't over power the ice cream. Nice combo I think. The turtle cookie is also great. My friend got half gluten free chocolate cookie for her sandwich. She wasn't crazy about it, she thought it tasted a bit cardboard. But it's nice cream has the gluten free and vegan options. The only thing is that I wish they had more stools or counter space... So your not just standing around the walls to awkwardly eat you sandwich. But then again, if I'm eating cookies and ice cream, I'm already in a happy place. :)

Delicious ice cream sandwiches. Great location in San Mateo by movie theater and restaurants. Three sandwiches for only $10.

This is such a fun place to stop in for a sweet treat after dinner or on a weekend afternoon. I've been here a few times and the staff is always so helpful and friendly - from their patience with ordering to suggestions. I recently stopped by and tried just a scoop of the salted caramel, without the cookie. I hadn't actually realized how good the ice cream truly is as it's typically between two great tasting cookies. The music is hip as well.

I was so stoked to see CREAM in this area! I insisted on going in to grab treats to-go. Staff was very nice and helpful. He got an ice cream sandwich with turtle cookies and salted caramel ice cream. Delicious ice cream. Delicious idea for a cookie but the caramel was too tough and ultimately, the cookie was too chewy, not juicy. This made the overall ice cream sandwich experience not as satisfying for my boyfriend. I chose to get an ice cream sandwich with double chocolate chip chocolate cookies and regular mint chocolate chip ice cream. They had an organic and I think sugar-free mint chip option but the kid in me wanted the artificial green food dye and extra sweetness. I know, terrible of me. I've always loved mint chip ice cream since I was a kid so this ice cream sandwich combo was so fantastic. Cookies soft and fudgy, ice cream cool and creamy...yessss! Great place as always! Just choose your flavors wisely!

it's amazing to me the market for something so simple as a scoop of ice cream sandwiched between 2 fresh baked cookies... i mean it's not really my thing, but we were out grabbing dinner and drinks for the night and i'd heard so much about this place as it was so close to the nearby Ramen Dojo we just ate at. don't forget to check-in and take advantage of the 'free cookie promo' with your purchase of $5 or more. -civilities.

After I take my family out to dinner in San Mateo, we always go to CREAM when the line is not too long. The cookies with the ice cream in between like an ice cream sandwich is a good one. The price is right and always check in on yelp because if you spend $5, use your Yelp coupon for a free cookie.

this CREAM is neither the biggest nor the smallest shop of them all..each new location springs hope something is new.. nope, just marketing. standard service counter, seats all around. standard flavors, standard house flavors, all "house made" eats: ice cream sammie:2.99 -great on a hot day. service courteous. drips: -fast, friendly service -room to sit, relax, and enjoy. 3.5 stars

Sorry to be a P-diddy downer but I don't think this treat is so special. It's 2 warm traditional cookies filled with traditional flavored ice cream. So what. I can see the appeal of waiting in line to taste the latest and greatest food trend but this was not it, nor was it worth the wait. Getting to the front of the counter was one hot mess, I had to figure out who to make eye contact with to get my order in. I stood behind 3 people screaming out what I wanted. And then the cashier wasn't very nice. I saw her put 3 fresh rolls of quarters in her register and I handed her $3 for my $2.50 sandwich. Well, she still asked for $.50 from me. Lazy! I can make a better ice cream sandwich with Ben and Jerry ice cream and a microwaved Mrs. Fields cookies. SKIP!

Have you seen the episode on Bizarre Foods where Andrew Zimmern visited the Philippines and discovered Ice Cream Sammiches? Having eaten all kinds of things that crawl, slither, fly, swim, burrow, nest, poo or just a simple fruit hanging from a tree, he couldn't stomach eating an Ice Cream Sammich. In fact, he looked a bit disgusted by it. Dude, you just ate some deep fried baby chicken heads and you're grossed out by an Ice Cream Sammich? So CREAM, which started in Berkeley, California in 2010, has new locations popping up and this one is in downtown San Mateo, my favorite place to hang out. CREAM is an acronym for Cookies Rule Everything Around Me. You basically choose a type of cookie and any flavored ice cream and you have plenty of different types of combination. It's a great concept, and one that is elevated by having cookies instead of a sandwich bread that is popular in the Philippines and Italy. From what I know, they also make their own ice cream. I'm a coffee guy, so naturally I had to order their Cup of Joe on our first visit. I tried it with their Cappuccino cookie as you would think they would naturally go together. For me, it was too sweet. Actually, both tasted too sweet for my liking. However, that's just my opinion and both the Wifey's and my son differ from mine. I ain't hatin' either as I understand it's not for everyone. We've been here a few times since as the Wifey and both my sons like their Ice Cream Sammiches. As for me, I would prefer to get my coffee ice cream elsewhere. Like I said, I ain't hatin' on CREAM. In fact, I like how the prices are also fairly inexpensive. It's also very popular as evidence by the long lines going into the store. I guess some of the people that used to line up for T-Pumps have migrated on over here. You can also check-in on YELP and get a FREE cookie. It's just too sweet for my taste. Sweet on sweet is just too much. I need contrasting flavors that would complement each other well. Maybe if they had regular bread sandwiches to offer and I wouldn't mind experimenting with it.

Be sure you know exactly what you're ordering, don't ask for too many, if any, samples of ice cream and do not ask any questions. One of the worst customer service. Came in with 4 adults and 3 kids hoping to get ice cream sandwiches and cones for each of us but left with just two sandwiches because we didn't want to "irritate" the girl. Soon as we walk in, she asks "you guys want any samples?" We could tell she hated her job and was ready to leave. We said no. My friend ask for an ice cream sandwich. He's new here so he assumed the traditional ice cream sandwich (choc cookie with vanilla ice cream) she practically yelled at him asking WHAT COOKIE WHAT ICECREAM pointing at the menu board. He still didn't understand so she continued to Repeat what she just said. My other friend just explained it to him. I ordered mines because I had been to the Berkeley and sf locations before (both of which had really good service) No one else felt like dessert anymore so we left. It was a bad end to our really great night.

This place is awesome, and not just because my ice cream sandwich was free; I was thoroughly impressed! We happened upon Cream on its grand opening day, during which they were offering each customer a complimentary ice cream sandwich. It was nighttime, rainy, and the line appeared quite long (many stood in the long line in the rain and tried to pay - they were unaware of the free offer!). Staff monitoring store capacity reassured us of an approximate 20 minute wait and that not only did they have a full staff working behind the counter to churn out the orders, but that they would not run out of anything (something I was skeptical of, since they had been doling out the freebies all day). Well, lo and behold, the staff was right. Wait was as expected, and the employees were working quickly to accommodating us waiting customers. Also, as promised, all cookie and ice cream flavors were available, and my salted caramel on Carnival aka M&M cookies and coconut on white chocolate mac nut cookies (don't judge; I wanted to try more flavors, and I did pay for my second one!) were great! On top of this, the space was inviting and spic and span, expectations for any new joint that sadly are not always achieved. A desperately needed solid, inexpensive ($2.50 for an ice cream sandwich, cookies starting at $0.79 with price breaks as you purchase more) dessert spot in San Mateo. To quote Arnold, "I'll be back!"

Workers are fast and friendly, store is clean and pleasant. Any oven baked fresh cookies with ice cream is delicious to me, so I'll let the ice cream sandwiches speak for themselves. Btw, I got the lemon heaven cookie, which wasn't too sweet. Also, get a half sandwich if you can't stand the guilt or sugar or both of a whole sandwich, the workers would be happy to accommodate :)

I've been waiting a couple months to try this new ice creamery around the block... we stopped by Sunday afternoon and there was almost no line! Every other time I've driven by, the line has been out the door! It does remind me of Diddy Riese in Los Angeles, except CREAM is higher-end and more expensive. They had a larger choice of add-ons that you can put on the ice cream cookie, but at the end Diddy Riese gives you more bang for your buck. At $3 an ice cream cookie, it is almost twice the cost of a Diddy Riese ice cream sandwich! Though I keep comparing this place to Diddy Riese, I must say I enjoyed the freshly baked hot cookies (diddy riese usually does not have hot cookies) and the amazing ice cream flavors. It's great to have another delicious dessert option in downtown san mateo!

  • Hayley H.

The ice cream is good, the cookies are pretty standard, but what kind of baffles me of why they warm the cookies before putting the sandwich together. In theory, it sounds fantastic... What ends up happening is all of the melted ice cream slipping and sliding out of the cookies and all over the little paper bag they give you! How do you like your no-ice-cream-cookie-sandwich now?

    (3)
  • Amanda L.

Man what a wait..but it was delicious. This was my first time trying CREAM and I was impressed! I thought I was gonna get sick from the sweetness of it (but I made sure to do my best and I chose safe flavors). I got Snickerdoodle and Butter Sugar cookies with French Vanilla ice cream in between. I usually can only finish like half an ice cream/cookie sandwich but I was surprised when I finished the whole thing! Next time I would definitely get Vanilla Ice Cream between two Snickerdoodles though because the Snickerdoodle was gooood! The cookies are just how I like them. Soft and chewy for the most part with the outer parts of the cookie a bit crunchy? And vanilla ice cream is...vanilla ice cream. But I'm glad it wasn't melting all over the place or anything. Good dessert but I don't think it's something I'll want very often. Maybe once a year? I don't know...it's just really sweet. A little too sweet for me!

  • Tavis S.

I don't think this place has ever had a slow night. The ice cream here is pretty good and I've been surprised by how good the cookies are. If there's a long line make sure you tell them you want your cookies hot or they'll rush you through. I prefer the cookies to be warm and soft.

Pros - Um Hello? cookies and ice cream made into a sandwich. Do I need to say more? Cons - understaffed and the staffs are kind of rude

Ohnomnomnom gimme gimme! I scream for ice cream & cookies :) Both ice cream & cookies are always a good idea. So combining the two is wonderful. There's a variety of ice cream flavors & cookies to choose from. You can add toppings too for an additional fee. I keep getting the same cookie (turtle) but I need to remind myself to not get that one for future visits cause I personally don't enjoy it but the description of the cookie kept me thinking I would. It's a bit on the bitter side.

    (4)
  • Yonnie Z.

This place reminds me of Diddy Reese in Brentwood (near UCLA). You pick 2 cookies of various flavors (I got chocolate chip + snickerdoodle) and your favorite ice cream flavor (I chose strawberry). They create an ice cream sandwich right in front of your eyes and there you go! :) YUM. Simple as that. You can opt for toppings but I didn't get any. Restrooms towards the back and 1 long counterspace for you to stand next to and eat your sandwich. It's more of a buy and go, type of store.

Cheap dessert? Yes it does exist! $2.50 (CASH) or 2.99 (CC) for an ice cream sandwich with cookies. Salted caramel ice cream has dreamy carmel swirls. GET IT. Location is much better than Berkeley's location. There is more space and the line is shorter.

Cut the niceties and give customers hell when they don't know what to order. The stuff you serve is way too simple to make me wait 1/2 hour for 10 people ahead of me to be served. Once I'll go here for a treat but won't come back. Sucks!

Our first time at CREAM was pleasant. We anticipated a long, TPump-esque line being that it's still Grand Opening Weekend (03.02.2014). Surprisingly, although the line was out the door, the turnover was high, thanks to their efficient ordering process and execution. ORDERING: My kids enjoyed the samples passed around while we waited in line. Less than 10 minutes later, we were at the front of the line selecting cookies and ice cream flavors (toppings available for an additional $0.75 each). Our party of 7 was exiting CREAM within 15 minutes from lining up, delectable ice cream cookie sammies in hand. Meanwhile, other kids from our party were still in line for boba at TPumps, their process took three times as long :/ but that's a different review altogether. FLAVORS: The popular CREAM combinations were Chocolate Chip cookies x Mint Chip Ice Cream. I had a taste of my husband's and found the peppermint flavor overpowering. My Salted Caramel, on the other hand was perfectly balanced: not too sweet, not too salty. TEXTURE: The cookie texture can make or break your ice cream cookie sandwich experience. CREAM's cookies were perfect, the cookie bottoms were firm enough that the ice cream didn't turn it to mush. Yet the inside was chewy enough that it didn't chip your teeth upon taking the first bite. CONS: The only unfortunate thing about CREAM of San Mateo is the DTSM parking situation. But that we're used to and can be overlooked. We'll def be back to try other flavor combinations.

Love the way they warm up the cookies before putting the ice cream. Had the peanut butter cookies with peanut butter twist ice cream. Judging by the line out the door, their product is in demand.

I was a little let down by this place. We did the online ordering, and unfortunately they didn't get our order right. I mean it's just ice cream, so I'm not going to get too bent out of shape about it, but yeah, they lost stars because of it. It was super dead in there, so I could be more understanding if it was crazy. Probably won't go out of our way to try it again.

No line today in 90 degree weather in San Mateo today on a Friday afternoon at 4 pm? Say what? I was so surprised there was no line at this CREAM location located in downtown San Mateo on B street between 1st and 2nd Ave. We had an extra 20 mins on our meter after lunch, which is just enough time to stop by CREAM and grab a dessert. We went with the cup of joe ice cream smacked between a snickerdoodle and a peanut butter cookie. The cup of joe ice cream was delicious, with a good coffee flavor and not too sweet. Today's cookies were on the harder side, which the bf prefers, I tend to like softer cookies. But the ice cream sandwich was just a delight in this hot indian summer weather. Since it was hot, it got a little messy. Good thing we grabbed a bunch of napkins. I was also able to use my Paypal offer of $3 off. The ice cream sandwich was $2.99 so with Paypal, my ice cream sandwich was FREE! Making this trip even better! I mean can you really complain about a free ice cream sandwich? Workers were nice and efficient. Good Job CREAM! But I do still miss it when those ice cream sandwiches were just a little over $1. Sigh. But at least they have more locations now, which means I'm not just limited to Berkeley!

I have been wanting to check this place out for awhile, and finally got the chance last Fri.. night. There was a line, but it moved fast. The staff was really pleasant, even though they were clearly slammed. They were even cool about letting us taste a few flavors. We split one, (they were even nice enough to split it for us and wrap it separately, which I totally didn't expect them to do.) I love that you get to pick the cookies and the ice cream, as these are some of my favorite sweet indulgences. Half an ice cream sandwich is plenty! Totally delicious, and surprisingly cheap. I also got a chocolate chip cookie for my friend (we were on the way to the airport to pick her up.) It was warm when we got it, and she seemed to like it. I would absolutely go back!

I've known about Cream for quite awhile, and never had a chance to try it because every time we walk by any given branch, there's always a HUGE line!!!!! The other day when we had dinner with some friends in San Mateo, we noticed that the wait wasn't crazy at all, so we decided to finally give this place a try. They do $2.50 cash discount (vs. $2.99 regular price) for an ice cream sandwich with 2 cookies of your choice. We ended up getting chocolate chip cookie & snickerdoodle cookie with cookies 'n cream ice-cream. The cookies were not very good (I can make better ones at home) and the ice cream sandwich was nearly impossible to eat because it's lopsided (even though I asked them to cut it in half so I can share with my husband) and the paper they used to wrap the sandwich was dirty from them making a mess all over it...I honestly don't get what the hype is all about.

Consider eating a light dinner before going to the local edition of CREAM. The cookies are incredibly dense and there are at least two scoops of ice cream in your sandwich. I loved the double chocolate cookies. As a counter to the cookie density I ordered pistachio ice cream with it. It's light with an unexpected pistachio flavor and nut bits mixed in. I can easily see this place having lines that rival next door T-pumps on a hot day. Be ready for that. Yes, the Wu-tang Clan song is stuck in my head whenever I pass by. This place got my money. Dollar dollar bills, y'all!

  • Charmane S.

Second time coming to this location and great service. Once we finished ordering our sandwich we ask for it to be out in a cup, and the worker said that they charge 50 cents. I was kinda shocked that they would even charge customers for just putting it in a cup, it should be free in my opinion.

  • Katie K.

I gotta start off by letting you know - ice cream is not my thing. But my hubbie insisted we stop by. This place is awesome. The ice cream is creamy and delicious. The cookies are warm and soft. The entire combination is just to die for. I can't believe how reasonable the price is. $2.50! I would have paid double or more. The place is crowded (as some of the reviews mention). But hello - that is because it's so tasty. The crew there does a great job getting people served fast. Will be going back soon!

Ah CREAM, in my younger days, I sang words of praise, but I fear that with my aging comes with matured taste buds (a pretentious way of saying things are too sweet for me there!). STAFF. Our scooper was a friendly guy, and when we were in, "Coz I Got High" was on, and the entire store was singing, which was pretty entertaining. The guy at the cash register, however, was not friendly, not helpful, and didn't seem like he wanted to be there. PAYPAL CREDIT. Apparently, if you can work CREAM's verification card-thing at the register, you can get a $5 credit. We tried several times with 2 accounts, it did not work, and the register guy could care less. Good stuff. THE SWEETS. Huge assortment of freshly baked cookies and awesome ice cream flavors, and a "have it your way" mentality. Regardless, everything is just too sugary. Maybe it's because the cookies I had were dipped in sugar ontop of the sugar already baked into them? Left feeling artery-clogged and regretting finishing my ice cream sandwich. Guess I gotta pass on this place from now on.

    (2)
  • Rhondi S.

Hot lofty smells of fresh baking cookies, long line of 10 people by the door, numerous ice cream Flavors, tons of various toppings....put those combinations together and you have CREAM. The cookies are ok, they taste better warm, because they are soft and chewy...add the ice cream and sandwiched between the cookie, you get MELT...now I know why they call this place Cream...the ice cream is good, some icy bits, soft mouthfeel and a higher overrun, not a dense high quality ice cream...toppings are good, sprinkles, almonds, bunch of candies and syrups, whipped cream. It's a good fad.

This place is very cool and priced excellent . Build your own cookie sandwiche or sunday . The cookies fresh off the baking sheet and a decent amout of flavors to choose from. Try them out I had the fudge and chocolate chip cookies yum

Came after work and there was NO line. They granted my son's odd request of mint ice cream with sprinkles and gummy bears on a chocolate chip cookie and he enjoyed every bite of it. The woman at the register was very new, wasn't sure on how to do a few things but the owner (i believe), rushed to assist her in getting me out quickly and efficiently as well as selling me one of the five star cards. When we stepped outside, i bent down to assist my son and another employee rushed over to make sure everything was alright with his ice cream and if we needed any assistance. Overall, I must say the customer service was excellent! I will definitely be returning in the future. Especially since I am an East Bay resident and the one's on my side of the water are also so packed.

We finally had time to swing by Cream for a chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich. We all had different combinations. Overall the service was fantastic. There was a long line but they obviously have the system down to science. We were in and out, standing with cookie sandwich in our hands in less than 10 minutes. Perfect! I do wish they had more seating, but I understand space is limited. shared some counter space with another fam. Cookies were a little over baked for my taste. Not burnt, but crispier than I would like. I assume they do this so it'll hold the monster scoops of ice cream they put between them. But I asked them to cut the ice cream in 1/2 for me and asked for soft baked cookies..... they did the best they could. :) Kiddos loved them. Adults enjoyed, but would not go out of our way for it unless, of course, the kids scream for them! Close to a bunch of great dinner spots and the movies. So I'm sure we'll be back again. Oh, if you check in on yelp you get a free fresh baked cookies. Had a nice warm peanut butter cookie. Mmmm! Also, I think they give cash discount. I like that.

What a great place! Great choices.. plenty to choose from and a hit with my kids and work. Fadi and his team came through more than once for me. Just used them again today for a work function and was not disappointed. Will definitely be visiting and calling on again.

Cream opening in San Mateo, yes I am totally there!! As expected the line was extremely long but it moved quite well. I liked how they have it set up where the people exiting aren't pushing through the people entering. Inside is nice and spacious so you don't get that closed in feeling like in Palo Alto. For my cookies I got the turtle cookie and my ice cream was butter pecan. Both were SO yummy! I have no complaints on the product itself. The only aspect of my visit that put me off was the employee who served me. I was getting 4 items and I felt extremely rushed and the server was quite short with me. I understand that yes the line was long, it was friday night but the other servers around me weren't rude like the one I had was. The rude attitude has to go if you expect to work in a busy environment of serving people. Who knows maybe the server was having a bad night... At least I felt more welcome when I paid. Overall expect to wait, expect to battle for parking but in the end it's all worth it. I'll be back since this location is much more convenient for me

Now that there's a C.R.E.A.M. in San Mateo, I don't need to go all the way to Palo Alto or Berkley to enjoy one of my favorite ice cream sandwich spots. When I first got here I thought "Oh man the line is LOOOOONG!!" BUT it went by pretty quickly. The staff is really fast. Everyone is friendly, especially the owner. He always makes sure that everything was right or he would fix the problem (But there never was any). The cookies are always made fresh here. I usually get snicker doodle & chocolate chip cookies filled with mint chocolate chip ice cream in the center. Cheap & REALLY Good! Go try now!

I first tried CREAM in Berkeley and I was sooo excited when I found out it's coming to San Mateo. I had high expectations for this place since it was so amazing in Berkeley. I went to the one in San Mateo for the first time the other day. The cookies were not fresh at all and they were very hard too. I asked them if they were going to bake the cookies. They told me that they did already but the main thing about CREAM are their hot, freshly baked, soft cookies! I was NOT satisfied and was very disappointed!!!

I was soo excited when I heard CREAM was coming to San Mateo and I was not disappointed. They have a great variety of flavors of cookie and ice cream to choose from. I'm a huge chocolate fan so I got a turtle cookie and double chocolate chip with chocoholic ice cream in the middle! I but into heaven lol I made a comment to my bf that one of the cookies seemed tough. The manager overheard and immediately made me a new one. He said he didn't want me to leave unhappy. Excellent customer service and a good price. Great treat for strolling downtown San Mateo.

Price is great. First experience was awesome. Cookie was fresh soft and delicious. (Chocolate chip cookie with mint chocolate chip ice cream). Went back today. The guy said he was going to heat up the cookie which made it a bit hard so when i was eating it the ice cream came out the sides and also made the cookie taste a bit stale. This time I got salted caramel Ice cream which was not nearly as good as the mint.

I like the idea but I can do the same thing at home with better cookies. The ice cream is very good the the cookies are just ok, if the motto it Cookies Rule Everything Around Me they better have cookies that are extremely good! I'd rather have a Mrs Fields cookie with Lunardis ice cream.

I finally got a chance to try this place! I was hoping to come out really impressed, but instead I didn't feel like it was anything special. The cookies and the ice cream are good, but if I were to get cookies from somewhere I like going to and my favorite ice cream somewhere.. I can make this on my own. I'll be back for another visit once the "hype" to stand in line dies out just like it did with Tpumps which is just a few doors down.

Expect lines out the door at cream; the lines here are longer than at t-pumps which is two doors down. The best time to go is when they first open or eat an early dinner and arrive before the after dinner crowd. The line moves quickly. The server repeats your order a few times to make sure they have it right. The ice cream was a bit skimpy as it didn't cover the whole cookie. I got salted caramel with snicker doodle and peanut butter cookies. I would go again to try the different flavors. Pay with cash to get a fifty cent discount.

It's cheap and i guess that's why everyone stands outside for 30 minutes at a time. The cookie sandwich is okay, nothing special. Although frozen and eaten the next day it was much better.

This place has a pleasant environment with pretty decent desserts. I'm not going to say that it's the best dessert in the area, but if you're looking for something quick from people who seem like they enjoy their jobs, this is your place. I had the brownie sundae here, but took a bite out of my father's ice cream sandwich, and I must say it was far better. In fact, had I decided to get that, this review probably would've been a 5.

HOLY LINE! As a San Mateo resident I am always amused at the "fanboys" lining up for premium priced milk tea at T-pumps. Amazingly this line is LONGER! I assume Cream has started to steal T-pumps younger customer craze. How can something so simple and easy to make be so popular? I have no idea but they are making killing right now. After deciding to wait in line for 20 min and arguing with my mother that T-pumps would have taken half the time, we arrived at the counter and I have made my order ( turtle cookie, mint chip, chocolate chip cookie). The cookies were warm. The ice cream so-so. Both were decent, nothing out of the ordinary. As a cookie connoisseur I was no impressed. I probably would only come back if forced by someone of the opposite sex, but never on my own.

We went at around 1pm on a Sunday afternoon and there was hardly any wait. Nice selection of fresh baked cookies and wide variety of ice cream. For a single scoop, two cookie sandwich, $3.00 (or $2.50 with cash discount). I would come back.

I'm sure I'll be back, I like the concept and the service is good. I just have one complaint. Why, why, why, why do the cookies taste like the Pillsbury packaged ready to bake cookies? The reviews were all about how good the cookies are but sadly I am disappointed.

Gluten-free and vegan options people!!! Not only is it amazing to find a dessert spot with vegan ice cream AND gluten-free cookies, the taste and texture were both soooo amazing. Love this specific location - I cannot wait to come back.

Warm cookies and yummy ice cream, Who can ask for more?! The fat kid in me danced when I smelled the cookies baking from outside and then sang when I tasted the coffee ice cream. I was there for the Sweet treats but I'd come back for the service. As busy as the store was the staff stopped everything to sing happy birthday to my brother. They also incorporated the whole line in the Serenade and we were told the singing could be heard from down the block! I was already a fan but let's just say after this experience I will definitely be back to San Mateo CREAM!

This place is SUPER DELICIOUS! Nothing better than a warm cookie with ice cream. So many flavors to choose from. Friendly staff, clean location. Stop in , I promise you won't be disappointed.

Great to have a Cream close to home. Good selection of ice cream and cookies and only $2.50 for 1 sandwich if you pay with cash. I give 4 stars just because it is pretty small compared to the one in palo alto but the quality of the sandwich is amazing

Wow what a simple but brilliant idea ‼ I waited a couple weeks to check it out so that the lines would die down ...but every time I drive by there was a line down the block . So finally this weekend the kids and just went for it . To our surprise we were in and out very quickly . There service was perfect and my custom made cream sandwich ... Well all I can say is there goes my diet just what San Mateo needed something for the whole family

This has become one of my favorite desserts of all time. The cookies are warmed up so they're nice and soft. However, the cookies are a little crunchy and overcooked late at night.

For only $2.50, you can't complain for what you get. 2 fresh baked cookies with mediocre ice cream. Yes you can make this at home but why make so many cookies and tempt yourself at home. I'd rather go to cream when I get the craving and hope there isn't a long line.

First time here with my little girls & hubby and all I have to say is super sweet but good. They do take credit cards but if you pay cash you get a discount ($0.49 off) for Ice cream sandwich. It is very reasonably priced. Girls loved it! We ordered simple: white choc. macadamia nut cookie w/ French vanilla, oatmeal raisin w/salted caramel, sugar cookie w/coconut pineapple & lemon bar. All very delicious!

fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and coconut ice cream in between!! Yum!!! And the price is outrageously inexpensive.

honestly really good, i went there (first time) got a sugar cookie ice cream sandwich with vanilla and it was only 2.50 i was expecting a 6.00 small cookie, but it was decent size for 2.50 i reccomend this

Very yummy. The cookies were extremely fresh, and the ice cream wasn't too sweet! A perfect combo!

First time at this location and I haven't had cream in so long. Kinda disappointed that they didn't have green tea ice cream, but other here than that, the ice cream sandwich was good.

Took my kids here for the first time after hearing and seeing post on Facebook & Instagram! Passed by tpumps first coz their only few steps away! There was no line when we got to the place only few people inside. So we i ask the lady, shes young and she was african ( not racist ) i ask her kindly if she can suggest me whats good! She looked at me like i was dumb and answered me ahhh!! Well its your decision so u choose!!! Are u serious!!! I ask u nice!! And this is the answer i get! So whatever i didnt want to ruin my days with my kids so i ignore! I ordered total of 4!! They have no seating area so we headed to the car! And eat it there! After few bits my kids said mom i cant finish it anymore i dont like it! I was surprise! My kids cant finished their ice cream! Because it was not good!!! I rather buy them walgreens, Safeway brands and buy a cookies and i bet it would taste lot more better the. The one they sell!!! Its a rip off!!!

I was super impressed with the care they took because my husband and I are gluten free. They asked if it was an allergy and then when we told them yes they took the care to change their gloves, clean the counter with a sanitizer, put paper down and used an ice cream scoop that was designated for gluten free ice cream. The gluten free cookie was also one of the best I have ever had. Price is also reasonable for an ice cream place and gluten free products.

Yummy - try it. Love the fresh cookies. They always cut it in half so you can share it with a friend.

Not only are the sandwiches delicious but they have done a fabulous job when I have ordered sandwiches for my daughters' school and also when I had a very large order delivered. They took the time to label each box which made it so much easier to distribute.

Now that I live back in the peninsula, it was good to find out that a common Berkeley after class pit stop decided to open up in San Mateo. The lines are long since there's a T-pumps next door and a slew of other restaurants around as well. However, the line moves relatively quickly and you get to add toppings and what not to your ice cream sandwich now. I would recommend eating it as quickly as possible since the cookies are warm and melts the ice cream faster. 2.50 or 3 for an ice cream sandwich isn't bad, but I remember the good 'ol days when they were only a dollar. I would come back again for a nice and quick dessert.

Not as great as I thought it'd be. I got an ice cream sandwich and it was good, but too sweet. My buddy also said her cookie was hard. Aside from that, they should lower the music. I can't hear anything! Anyways, overall, it was alright.

Mehhh. I've been to the CREAM in Palo Alto and I wasn't satisfied with that. So when I saw that San Mateo had better reviews I decided to try it out again. I got the ice cream sandwich chocolate chip cookie with cup of Joe ice cream. I would've liked the cookie to be softer. The ice cream was too creamy. I would've liked a stronger coffee flavor to it. The ice cream sandwich is a good portion, though. The store is pretty big. It's not narrow like the Palo Alto store. However, this store doesn't have as much seating as the Palo Alto location. I don't think I'll come here often. Just make your own ice cream sandwich at home. I'm sure it would taste better.

Hi, My name is Melanie and I am addicted to CREAM!!! My all time favorite dessert is an ice cream sandwich... But making it to order with warm cookies just makes it sooo much better!! I have been there a handful of times and always had great service! Everyone working there is very cheery! I highly recommend patronizing this establishment! Maybe I'll see you there!! YUMMY!!!

Finally got to try out what all the hype has been about. I get it! Fresh baked White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookies with Soy Vanilla Ice Cream - as delicious as it reads! Taste buds and tummy both ended up happy. This treat really hit the spot on a warm Saturday afternoon. The staff was very courteous and got the line moving moving pretty quickly. I can't wait to go back and order a Snickerdoodle Soy Mint Chip ice cream sandwich next. The decor is refreshing too, clean & modern (nothing against old school ice cream parlors with their pastel color schemes)

Wish I could say go there but tasteless ice cream. Strawberry was the only one of the four we had among the group that had any favor. The rest just tasted like cold cream. How can cinnamon ice cream be tasteless? Overpriced for portion and quality. Don't think I will go agIn. Too many other options with flavorful ice cream/yogurt available in the area.

Came here for the first time recently and the line was out of the door! Efficient service and we were soon at the front. Lots and lots of choices, so I went for the sugar butter cookie with salted caramel ice cream. It was not a disappointment! A bit too much for me.........I wish there was a 'mini' option, but absolutely delicious. We will be back!

Came on a late night with my boyfriend. The cashier, zee(I think he's the manager), put our ice cream on the house so we only had to pay for cookies! THANK YOU SO MUCH! It was out first time here and we will definitely be back! I would definitely recommend to get the single scoop of ice cream and then buy two cookies to avoid the mess from the ice cream sandwiches :)

OMG..YES for coming to San Mateo-I was there for the opening yesterday..i had the chocolate chip cookies with the cup of joe ice cream. So good! And the line wasn't even that bad, considering it was the grand opening. The cookies were still warm and gooey. :)
